This place has it all! Kayaking, fishing, hiking, history, great views, and much more. This (relatively) hidden gem is only an hour east of Charlotte and well worth a day trip.

Awesome place for anyone. Great access for all abilities and beautiful views all around the summit. Great bathroom facilities and awesome picnic options and even charcoal grills all over. Hiking trails are great as well. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out especially in the fall.

Kudos to Park Ranger badge 238 (sorry I did not get your name!) He saw me walking along the road, not a trail, stopped by, made sure I was alright, offered water, and asked if there was anything wrong on the trail. I highly appreciate his professionalism and care for park patrons and the park alike.

If you are looking for a beautiful place to enjoy nature this is one of them! The waterfront is beautiful and the view from the mountaintop is spectacular! If you like watching sunsets then this is a perfect place!

The rds in were well maintained, and what I could see of the trails they were well groomed with a crushed stone. The bridal trails were plenty, and there were several horse trailers that come in, so I am assuming they were good. The view was spectacular. At this time of the year, you can see for miles, and it was lovely to see the river and the houses along the river.
