Is this campground monitored by the Northwood sheriff's department or Iowa Dept of Natural Resources? While driving through the park recently, there was a strong chemical odor noted during the drive through the park. There was one camper on site, and one vehicle parked, but it didn't really look like anyone was actually camping; no lawn chairs or anything that looked like "camping". The chemical odor was pungent through that area but it was hard to tell where it was coming from, since there is a fence that divides Silver Lake park from Sorbo campground right next door. Sorbo campground had several campers there, so for anyone not being able to smell it, would seem very odd. Never been around a meth lab but that was the first thing that came to mind.

Great view on the non privet camp ground and 10 dollars cheaper. Highly recommended.

It's a nice place for $10 a night with almost no amenities. Just beware all you get is a 20 amp connection with no water or sewer hookups nor a dump station. I believe there are 8 sites: 3 with gravel and the rest are grass, with 2 of the gravel sites facing Silver Lake, which also appear to be the 2 sites closest to level with the grass sites being well off level. There appears to be an outhouse, but I didn't use it. The RV park/farm next door can be loud, which is my biggest complaint. Further, I wouldn't take any RV in there over 30'. It's off a gravel road and easy miss.

This hidden gem is amazing. We took a chance to get a spot, as it’s first come first serve and it’s beautiful. $10 with 20amp electric. Our RV is 34ft and we fit with no problem on two different sites. Well worth taking the chance for a spot. No dump or water, but the Petro travel center in Albert Lea, MN, about 16min away, offers free dump and potable water. Can’t beat this!!
