Clear Lake State Park offers diverse activities on one of Iowa’s most popular lakes. The 3,000-acre lake is a draw for boating, fishing and windsurfing. The park features 50 acres of open spaces and mature oak trees along with a highly popular campground. Several acres of picnic grounds with tables and grilles are available for day-use. The nearby town of Clear Lake is a summer tourist destination with numerous stores and restaurants.
Camp in one of the most popular campgrounds in Iowa’s state park system. The campground contains two modern restrooms, shower facilities and two dump stations. A quarter of the campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and advanced reservations can be made online through the online reservation system for Clear Lake State Park.
Take exit 193 off of I-35. Head West on Hwy 106 until the first four-way stop. Take a left to the South on 8th Ave and follow for about a mile. Then take a right on 27th S. Follow until stop sign. Park entrance is right across the road.
Nice camping area, plenty of shade trees, two restrooms fairly close. Just 5 full hook ups, no fresh water available accept at dump station, electric available. Most dirt & rock parking spots not very level. Close to Clear Lake public beach area. Walking & bike trails.
The camp host was friendly. The pull-through sites were not level and seemed awkward in the way they were set up. It was nice to have a playground and be near the lake. The bathrooms were clean and the dump station was easy to use. There was a lot of noise and loud, inappropriate music playing through the evening
Very nice place. Stayed two nights. We explored the town and had some food near Madison City. Lake was a little turbid and it was recommended that people not swim due to some recent testing. Overall i would stay there again.
The campground offers some full hookups, but the majority are electric-only sites.
It's close to the lake and evening walks on the sidewalk are great photo ops.
There is a nice playground and two restroom/shower houses.
There is a dump station that can be accessed from both sides.
They put in several new fire pits and one section has new picnic tables.
The campground was beautiful even though there are only a few FHU sites. The campground has been well taken care of but the sites are very close together. If we had been there during the weekend we may have been able to hear the camp neighbor next door belch.
The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the camp host (the reason for 4 stars). She was just about as unfriendly as I have ever met. I was trying to make a lighthearted/funny conversation that our GPS took tried to take us someplace different, and she completely bit my head off and told me it was obviously my fault, "because no one else has every said anything about it and her GPS has always gotten her to this campground with no problem." Lighten up sister I was just trying to have a conversation with you.
