We stayed at the Timberline Campground for 4 nights for an event we had to attend in DesMoines. Check in was so easy and a nice young man led us to our site. Our site was very spacious and backed up to a wooded area with some pretty wild flowers. The area we were in was very quiet day and night. They have a very nice looking pool that I wish we had time to use but we were too busy. The bathrooms were extremely clean and smelled very fresh at all times. I noticed a nice fenced in area that I believe is a little dog park. There are several small cabins that sit near the pond that looked like they would be very nice. The campground is very nicely kept, you can tell they work very hard on that. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
Really great well-kept park. We only stayed here overnight. On our way home. Perfectly situated right off Highway 80. Really appreciate how attentive the staff were and took the time to personally drive everybody who checked into their spot. In the morning we had someone personally drive us to the dump station. Not many parks do this anymore and it’s much appreciated. Large park that has a beautiful layout for plenty of nice walks. Would definitely stay here again for a longer period of time. The staff and personal attention is the biggest plus!
DO NOT stay here. First they offer no senior discount. That’s crazy because seniors travel via RV. The water used in the hook ups was disgusting. Had a strong chemical taste & odor. Had to flush out our lines because of it. It was bad. The worse part of the stay was that they are located right next door to a shooting range. They don’t tell you that to provide you a chance to go elsewhere. I found that very disturbing. The gun fire begins at 8:00 am through 5:00pm. Because we had no idea of this, we awoke to gunfire thinking it was a mass shooing occurring. It steadily got louder & more rapid & we figured out that we were near a range. It’s very dishonest for them not to disclose this before you pay them. Would never recommend this site to any traveler.
Read response from owner of park? Really - why should we offer a senior discount? The water was absolutely disgusting & their comment is “if “ there was really a problem. Why would I say it if it weren’t a problem. They don’t even address the fact that you’re awoken to gunfire & not provided that info before you pay them. We had always planned on staying 2 nights. We were traveling & felt stuck as we were already set up & didn’t want the hassle of moving. We left all day on Saturday & left very early on Sunday. This place is awful & their response truly shows how greedy they are & they don’t care about their customers. Don’t stay here. You’ll be sorry if you do. Terrible management as is evidenced by their response. Unbelievable.
