About Campground

Catbrier Loop Campground is one of three shady campground loops in the Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area. This loop has ten sites with electricity and water and is designed for larger RVs. The loop also has toilets, and a shelterhouse. The campground opens between April 1 and April 15 and remains open through October 31 (weather dependent). A maximum of 2 vehicles and 8 people are allowed per site. An additional $5/vehicle per day is charged for extra vehicles.

Directions

Located 6 miles south of Interstate 64 off State Highway 37. Turn at the large portal sign. The recreation area is actually a couple miles down this road. Continue down the road to the gatehouse and the recreation complex. The campgrounds are to the north past the gatehouse

Very quiet, staff is very friendly and cordial. We didn't get to explore much this weekend due to the severe weather. Photos are site #5

It’s been yrs since I been here but I can remember such great memories at this place. Walking on trails fishing swimming in the lake when restrooms and showers was rebuild also riding bikes down a hill plus it was always so clean and peaceful.

Nature lovers rejoice! Large sites tucked into forest land. Herds of deer, beautiful box turtles (drive slow) and more bird species than you can name. Staff are friendly and quick to deliver ice and wood.

Only snafu was bathrooms closed, 4 of 7 days and showers closed 7 days during my stay. Supposed painter issue. Communication was poor but that is on the management company FINE. Beautiful place for peace and quiet and being in nature. Really hard to find places like this anymore.

Beautiful, moderate loop with lake views. We did run into a couple of uncontained Great Pyrenees that caused us to turn around at the far southwest end of the lake so we didn't make it to the beachside of the lake. We were hiking with our dogs and didn't want to risk an interaction.
