This park’s name comes from the path that herds of buffalo once migrated across the area. Later, the earliest settlers used this path as a wagon trail into the frontier.
The land that is now Buffalo Trace Park was deeded to the Town of Palmyra for the express purpose of using it as a park. Harrison County Parks operates Buffalo Trace Park under a long term lease agreement with the Town of Palmyra.

Beautiful views of the lake. Nice path for walking. Lots of activities, boating, fishing, swimmjng, pickle ball, disc golf, many others. A petting zoo but we only saw 2 goats and 2 miniature horses/ponies.
I was pleasantly surprised when I camped here for two nights. Was the only RV here and it was nice and quiet, I'm assuming I came here on the off season. A nice place for people to walk around and enjoy the park and a nice view of the pond.
Had a lovely stroll around the park with a friend to get in some decent walking miles. We made two laps around the park (3.5 miles), and ventured down to the water with her dog.
There is a nice camping area, pretty little lake, some neat bald cypress trees on the water, plenty of benches, a cute gazebo, and a full disc golf course. There aren't many trails in the woods, mostly just the main trail around the lake. I didn't use the bathrooms, but there was fresh water available for her dog from spigots and trashcans for waste. There is also a small, old petting zoo. There is a small beach for the summer. We also saw some tennis courts, a playground, and of course someone fishing.
