Honcho Rest Campground is an RV exclusive campground with cabins for non RV campers. We have 97 full hookup sites, 7 water electric hookup sites (103-110), and 6 Camping Cabins.
We are located along 900' of Bass Lake frontage in the Village of Elk Rapids, MI.
We recommend that Large RV's travel to Kalkaska then follow directions from there as directions from 131 including Fife Lake Rd, Supply Rd, Williamsburg Rd, County Road 605 are very winding and hilly that can be troublesome to navigate with a large RV.
Nice clean RV Park in a rural setting surrounded by cherry orchards. Most services 15 mins or so away. Lot's of DON'Ts on the do's and don'ts list given at arrival. They made me sign a separate agreement promising we would follow all the rules or we would be asked to leave. Kind of an off-putting first impression. We were told the showers and restrooms "were really nice". While adequate, they are far from being "really nice". There are many long term campers here. So if you are looking for a water view or even a site with sewer hook-up up don't count on it. The dump station did not provide a working rinse hose. A rinse setup was there but not hooked up. They did provide a hose connection, but who wants to use their fresh water hose to rinse out sewer parts. Also there is a water treatment facility near and yes we could smell it.
Great RV park. The bathrooms were very clean. Could use additional hanging hooks in them. Make sure you have at least a 12 foot hose to reach the water hookups. Spaces are tight but why are you hanging out at the campsite? There's a beautiful lake right there.
This campground was one of the quietest places I have ever stayed, complete with sunset views over Bass Lake. Many seasonal campers occupy about half of the sites, but they are well-kept and tidy, with nice decks, landscaping, and flowers. Campers sit quietly around their fires or around their picnic tables, and the kids really enjoy the playground, plus I was happy to see campers respecting leash laws for dogs of all sizes. The sites are level and the hook ups are well maintained. The bathrooms and showers were very clean as well. Very peaceful campground, I would stay again.
Honcho is always great! We're a seasonal rental, and confidently invite all family/friends to visit or rent the cabins. There is so much to do for both adults and kids in the area. Highly recommend.
We stayed here for four days during a family reunion. They have a large area for RVs with a large number of seasonal campers that leave their RVs there. Very quiet and friendly for kids. Almost like a neighborhood. There are a number of sites that are right on the lake. There is a nearby marina and restaurants. We would absolutely stay here again. We rented one of their RVs instead of bringing our own. Very pleasantly surprised at how nice and spacious it was. Had no issue sleep our four large adults but could have slept more if needed. Really a nice find if you are looking for a campground.
