The cleanliness of the bathrooms in the campground were awful. That being said, the conditions of the bathrooms in the beach area were much, much worse. Not to mention the amount of goose droppings that were on the beach and grass area. Camped there years ago, and the park was always kept clean. Sad to see the poor conditions in the areas mentioned above.
Great blean, sandy beach, with huge area to spread out and play games.
A beautiful park and campground that has many shady and peaceful sites to offer for campers. And don't forget the vast swimming space that Lake Chicagoan has to offer as well.
I have been coming here for 25 years. Have always loved camping here. The beach is phenomenal and lots to do for the kids with swings, slides and rafts in the lake. My only complaint is the new reservation system which was put in place this year. We have always had the same 8 to 10 sites but this year we had to somewhat split them. The restrooms do sometimes leave a lot to be desired. They clean them daily.
I have enjoyed this beautiful park all my life! You will enjoy camping...be prepared for neighbors as lots of folks love camping here. There is a store with candy, drinks, some toys and ICE CREAM! The beach has a children's floating dock and 3 resting logs to get you to the deeper floating dock. No lifeguard on duty so be sure your Littles can swim or wear floatation. The real magic is in the sacred ceremonial bowl area and in the areas of the native American burials. These areas are clearly marked. Please be very respectful as you visit these
Sacred grounds. Enjoy our beautiful area we are so fortunate to call it home.
