Directions

Please Set GPS for the Fastest Route NOT the Shortest Route. Consequently, using the shortest route may cause you to end up on unmaintained dirt roads and you could get stranded, especially in the Winter Months. It is important to realize, we are located along main roads, so there is no need to travel via back roads. In fact, it's best to stay on paved and plowed roads only.

We checked in Friday the 11th I put my card of file for the ($701.10) I paid $350.55. My wife had booked it online and paid the holding fee and half which was $350.55. When check-in was going on, I was told garbage goes to the dumpster amd make sure the chain is on it to keep bears out. Also the hot tub rules were gone over then I was handed the key. No rule about additional people was mentioned to me.

After getting settled in, my wife and 5 year old daughter went to get ice cream. While they we're gone the owner came to attend to the hot tub. We were having a nice conversation. Then my wife pulled in and got out with some ice cream. We all started talking for a minute. Then my daughter knocked to be let out.

The owner gave us a look and was like who's that. We said our daughter, she said that a additional $15 a day. I apologized, and we said okay. But this is a rule they have.

Check out was horrible Monday 8/14/2023. We got all cleaned up took the trash to the dumpster. Which was unchained due to the garbage truck coming. So when I put my garbage in and made sure to latch the chain. But I told them about the bundles of wood we used. My wife broke down the bed. As her toenail polish rubbed off onto the sheets, but you would think they would be washed in-between each stay. We should have paid extra $45 for our daughter and $20 for firewood. But we got charged $175.10, that $110.10 more.

But after my wife called and asked about the charges. She was called a liar on the phone. Then accused of hiding dirty sheets for taking them off the bed. And was told she was charged $90 (double)for our daughter as she felt we snuck her in. Also a additional $65.10 for a set of older sheets that got nail polish on them.

I think a check list should happen with a staff member during check out. And they should have a check list posted in the cabin to go off for checking out. As we were charged extra fees with out being told why. Just seeing the charge come access on my card.

Hence why check was horrible. A call going over the charges would have been great. Also when she told me about extra $15 would be charged for my daughter while face to face. No double charge was mentioned. We wanted a fun family get away, if you have extra money and don't mind anxiety about what you might get charged for.

Nice cabin, but need to work on customer service at this place.

We went to the store they have there on the property. We were staying at Macbeth's Cabins just down the hill for our vacation and like to check out what all Cook Forest has to offer.

Cute store. Everything and anything you would need to stay in the woods. Plus lottery and lots more.

BEWARE!!!! DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!!!

If you get a cabin with a hot tub be sure to check the filter and take pictures and videos of the hot tub with its jets on before you use them. Me and my partner stayed 3 nights and the last night the hot tub was used we checked the filter to be sure we wouldn't be charged for anything. But unfortunately we didn't take videos or pictures cause we followed the rules and didn't think there would be an issue. But boy were we wrong. Not only did we get charged but they charged us $100 to simply run the filter underwater to clean it and proceed to say how dirty of people we had to of been. But we 100% showered and rinsed our swimsuit before using the hot tub. They truly are just scam artist!

I emailed and requested proof of the "hot tub damages" and I was sent 3 videos 2 of which was them talking nasty about me and my partner. Than I was informed if I wrote a bad review on here that they would post the videos to shame me. BUT KNOW THAT FILTH WAS NOT FROM US!

I'd also like to add the videos that were sent to me supposedly showing how dirty the hot tub was they start off by saying that when jets are turned off it means people know they did wrong. Why would we leave jets run when it's not in use and we are leaving? Also in the video it's stated the water was a little foggy but could be cleaned so the need to drain the water and refill it was just them being extra when you can clearly see in the video that some chemicals can clean it easily. And after emailing them to hear what they had to say I requested them to not contact me further considering they already took the 100 from me. They felt the need to continue to contact me and degrade me as if I don't know anything about a hot tub. Smh it's truly said to see business like this scam people out of their money! The video didn't even show proof the filter that they were cleaning was from the hot tub we used! There wasn't even a chlorine tablet in the tablet holder that floats in the water!

I wish they could post the videos as well than everyone can see how over the top they truly were about the water needing drained. And I'd love to see proof the filter being cleaned was taken from the hot tub we used

My husband and I have stayed here a few times in the fall and once was for our honeymoon November 2020 and we always stayed at cabin #1. The owners always answered any questions we had and were very nice and accomodating. Yes, there are rules to protect their property (like any place has) but they are pretty common sense things that you should do anyway. We haven't been able to be back for a couple years but will be looking at dates for 2024. We haven't been there since the private hot tub was added to cabin #1 or the gift shop so we are really glad that they added more to the area. We really enjoy how close it is to the trails and that we have a lot of privacy since the cabins are spread apart.

Clean rooms, cozy quiet cabins but nightmare inducing warnings on every single thing. They offer no amenities... no towels, no shower stuff and everything has to be purchased at the store out front. Even the state managed cabins have more basic needs. Our stay could have been so much better with very few room essentials added to the not cheap price for the room. Again still decent just not what I expected. Edited for accuracy.
