***COMING SOON*** \- Happy Pappy's RV Park and Campground will be the newest edition to Greeley, Colorado. Family friendly fun with beautiful mountain views!
I called Happy Camper after about 14 hours straight in the truck with our RV, we had reservations elsewhere but when we showed up they overbooked so badly our spot was filled, back in the truck we go with our 2 toddlers frantically calling other campgrounds around us as we were exhausted, hungry and had crying babies. After calling many who were full I called Happy Camper, frantically telling her we had no where to go if she had any availability and the response I got was a godsend. At 7:30pm we traveled back down the mountain to Happy Camper where we were greeted by the owners who were so incredibly sympathetic with our situation. We got set up, the kids out of the truck, dinner made and they even allowed my husband to change his breaks at the campsite as long as we followed environmental rules.
The following days we explored the campground, it was our first time in Colorado and honestly, im so happy we landed there. Its not a resort. Its not filled with trees or extravagant amenities, but it was homey for us. Our children played at the playground, we sat by the creek that runs along the back and let the kids splash the water. We fished in the creek and we were only 10 minutes from everything we wanted to see. I would go back to Happy Camper in a heartbeat. At the end of that dreadful travel day they were sympathetic and caring towards the needs of my family and that beats any resort with big pools and overbooked schedules.
All I can say of a positive nature is - it was a place to get off the road. It's very small. Head to tail parking and you can touch your RV and your neighbors on both sides. Terribly run down, no picnic tables or slabs. Grass was knee high. Water smelled like sewer. Fortunately, we had our own water on board. The access is very near a blind corner on a very busy highway and there is no turn lane. I'd hate trying to get a big rig out of there.
I gave one star because the woman working there was very kind. You will not be a happy camper if you are used to clean, well groomed RV parks. I was warned on the phone that the bathrooms and showers were closed for renovation, but I saw no signs of work being done. I think they are permanently closed. I never could connect to the wifi, despite being less than 75 ft from the office. The water, electricity, and sewer were all fine, so if that’s all you’re looking for, you’re set. Otherwise, I feel that Happy Camper is very misrepresented by their website.
A good place to stop if you just need a nights sleep or visiting Pagosa. Sandy the manager was very nice and ready to help. Our stay was in January and we had a early mud season so it was a constant clean up. Highway noise is my major complaint along with no water to the site (which is understandable in Jan.) but there were no showers available, not really any amenities with the exception of electrical hookup. They are pet friendly and will allow any type of camper and they rent by the month. This place is in dire need of a privacy wall from the highway.
Best Damn stay I've had in years! I can't rave enough about these wonderful folks. They are laid back and definitely the best priced spot in town. From the mangers to the camp host, they are kind and caring. We broke down here and stayed for a few days waiting to get the repairs done and they continually asked if we were okay (no vehicle) and even gave us rides into town so we could get out of the camper. This is what a camping experience is all about. Thank you so much guys, YOU ROCK!!!
