Guanella Pass Campground is located about 7 miles south of Georgetown on the South Fork of Clear Creek on the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway. Located at an elevation of 10,900 feet on the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest, visitors to the campground can also enjoy hiking and fishing in the area.
The Guanella Pass Scenic and Historic Byway follows an old wagon route that linked the mining towns of Georgetown and Grant, Colorado.
The campground is split into two loops by the county road and South Clear Creek. There are 18 sites in the campground. Eleven are suitable for RV camping and seven are more suitable for tents. Large RVs are not recommended on the byway. Most of the sites are in the open with some tent sites located among some spruce trees. Each site has a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring and charcoal grill. The roads through the campground are gravel. This facility provides hand pumps with potable water, vault toilets and trash dumpsters.
Drive west from Denver on Interstate 70. Exit at Georgetown and follow the signs 9 miles from Georgetown to Guanella Pass. Drive west from Denver on US 285 approximately 40 miles to Grant. Turn right (north) on to Park County 62. Drive 14.5 miles to the campground.
This was a lovely campground that was well maintained. It was perfect for my small trailer setup. I highly recommend a visit. The spot had a faint cell signal also.
Absolutely amazing campsite. Gorgeous creeks, lots of creek access. Best camp host I've ever met ever, hollah David!
Upper sites are noticeably warmer and drier. Sites 10 and 11 can flood but I stayed at 11 and it rained a ton and I managed. Cleanest vault toilets I've ever experienced. Can't wait to go back!
Murph, the camp director, is a good and friendly man. We got camp site #8, a fantastic site next to a stream, a nice fire pit, and a beautiful opening between the trees so you can see the stars at night. It was nice having out houses as well.
We stayed mid August, and it was a perfect campground! Beautiful streams that you can hear nearby. VERY clean bathrooms that smelled great. The camp host was super friendly, kind, and willing to give us tons of tips for our hiking adventures.
