About Campground

Welcome to Sportsman's Lodge!

With almost 6 acres full of historic cabins and 1000 feet of Cache la Poudre riverfront, you're bound to fall in love with Sportsman's. Continuously running since 1931, Sportsman's Lodge takes you back to a different time; a time of exploration and adventure. With 300+ days of sunshine a year, Sportsman's is the ideal place for your favorite outdoor activities. You won't be far from scenic hiking trails, amazing fishing and hunting sites, or a relaxing day at the cabin watching the hummingbirds. Listen to the river as you fall asleep under the stars.

Sportsman's offers 12 cabins and 10 RV spaces. We are the perfect spot for any group large or small.

Because we have 1000 feet of riverfront, you are able to fish without leaving the resort! We are also close to some fully-stocked lakes nearby. Come in to Smith Dry Goods, our on-property camp store, to pick up your camping and fishing gear, snacks, and drinks. Smith Dry Goods also houses Patchwork Provisions, the only quilt shop in the canyon.

Sportsman's is a short trip down the road from Sleeping Elephant Mountain, Big South Trail, Chambers Lake, and Poudre Falls.

The locking doorknobs are in need of replacement. We almost couldn’t UNLOCK our cabin and I nearly got stuck in the bathroom when I could not get the door lock to UNLOCK and let me out! Otherwise, it’s rustic but was very quiet. New owners are very nice!

We had a great time! Our cabin was nice - our beds were super cozy. The people who worked in the shop at the cabins were great, and helped us out with whatever we needed! We even made s’mores with some of the people in the other cabins - it was overall just a great time in the mountains. 10/10!

Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for a visit to the upper Poudre River Valley. Shared public bathrooms were clean. Please understand that these cabins haven't changed since they were built probably 70-80 years ago. These are primitive cabins with no amenities. This is what I was looking for during my two night trip. Neighbors were noisy and talked until 2 am, but the thin walls didn't help.

The place is step up from camping. It is rustic. Each cabin has running water, coffee maker, refrigerator and really cool beds. I label it a price performer / solid value. The location and view is the best. You are minutes from Poudre Falls and Cameron Pass instead of 1+ hour from anywhere else. The facility provide gas grills, ice bags purchase on prem at the store and 2 of the best owner/hosts you could meet. The layout and campus promote low tech, face to face interaction. It is the optimal place to disconnect and enjoy the Mountain View and zero light pollution sky. Bring a cooler with what you want to eat and you will be set.

My husband and I spent the weekend at the Sportsman’s Lodge and had a great adventure. It is close to many outdoor actives such as hiking and fishing. The Poudre Falls and River are spectacular. We did also visit a Moose Visitor Center and Ranger Station and took a peaceful hike at Cameron Pass and the Roosevelt National Forrest. The cabins are “rustic”, but we were prepared. Bring your own food and drinks. Also include your sunscreen and bug repellent. There was a coffee maker provided in our cabin for our morning brew. There are grills available and we enjoyed grilled fish one night and steak the next one. A community fire pit was perfect for making smores! After dark, the skies filled with stars, and we enjoyed star gazing. We met up with some old friends there and made new ones. We plan to make a repeat visit in the future. Tyler and Tessa are perfect hosts.
