About Campground

Come reserve your spot at our Outpost Campsites in the Gulf State Park!
** Please note: These sites are NOT on the beach. **

The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail has created these unique campsites for guests to enjoy the Park in an unforgettable way!

These campsites are ideal for those who love to primitive camp.  Each of the 3 military style tents are already set up for you, with 4 cots inside.  (Each campsite includes firewood.) There are bathrooms and a shower on site for Outpost guests only.

The Outpost has a sink that can be used to wash dishes and provide water.  We feel that the water is clean, but we can not guarantee it is drinkable water.  This is a primitive camping area, and is located 1.5 miles along the trail, not on the beach - there is no electric and you have to walk or bike in (or you can pull a wagon in)!!   Law Enforcement will be patrolling the area several times during the day and evening.

Each tent is $50 per night.  Reservations can be made up to 1 year prior in advance.  There is a 2 night minimum stay on all bookings during festivals, holidays, special events and all weekends.  The maximum length of stay per site is 14 nights. Each outpost allow 4 people per site, 6-guests max with an additional tent.

Gulf State Park is home to many types of wildlife, including alligators. Please be aware at all times. For detailed information, please see our Wildlife Safety Recommendations.

Great experience. I went for 2 days and then decided extend 1 extra day. The campsite is NOT in the beach, but opposite direction. To get in, you have to walk around 1 mile on a paviment trail from the parking lot (cotton bayou p.l. trail is the closest one). There is three tends with a shared restroom, shower and faucet both waterpump NOT drinkable and also got firewood ready to use. Inside the tend there was an outlet car style and lamp (solar) which provides limited energy. I would do again.

We had a great meal at Outback! Our waiter William, (Rob) was great. He helped me pick out a perfect margarita, it was fabulous. We had Victoria filets which you could cut with your fork, me sweet potato, Bill baked potato and a chopped blue cheese pecan salads. Honestly everything was perfect. William was extremely attentive and never missed a beat! So wonderful to get out for a great time with a great meal and great service!
