This quaint, secluded campground is situated on the bank of the south fork of the Jacks River. Surrounded by the yellow poplar, oak, hickory, and white pine forests of north Georgia, these 7 campsites are popular with campers, hikers and equestrians. It was a wonderful find along the loop. Great place for thr family to relax and picnic. Bathrooms were open but beware port-o-let style but seen and smelled worst. The campsites were excellent and available fire wood made it even more amazing. Kids enjoyed a quick dip in the creek area and enjoyed a lunch while taking in the beautiful nature all around.
Beautiful place. Two small corrals for horses. I believe there were seven campsites as well as additional tent camping by the corrals. Nice clean river going through the middle of the camp. Great trails just outside of camp. It was a difficult 40 minute climb up the mountain on pretty much one lane roads of gravel. Besides the drive up and then of course back down, great place. Thank you to the North Georgia Horsemens Association for Maintaining this camp and to the Christians for the firewood!
Great day trip to see Shadow Falls. Primitive Camp 🏕 Grounds that are well maintained. A little difficult to get to the Falls but a worthwhile endeavor. See photos attached for information and directions. South Fork Trail signage is missing but the two posts are still present. BTW The "Goat Path" 🐐 to the base of the Falls is definitely doable but take your time and keep good footings. Recommend trekking poles for stability.
Enjoy 👍 🙃
