A beautiful campground right by the water. Nice access to the beach, you can walk it but honestly we just drove it since it's much safer and easier with all your beach gear. We stayed at Site 1, have a 40' camper and a little GMC Canyon truck tower. We just fit length wise, definitely a smaller site than some others even though the website says all the same length. Spent every night overlooking the bay which is beautiful. There are some high top patio table and chairs which all could be replaced. Most, if not all were broken and were scary if you moved the wrong way. Pool area is very nice with lots of beach loungers. Would definitely stay here again, thank you for a nice vacation.

Destin West RV Resort is in a very nice, quiet location. Located across the street from the ocean, with a walkway across the street. Nice restaurants across the street and next door. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a pool onsite, also resort can use of the pool amenities at the hotel across the street. Hotel across the street has a restaurant and multiple bars. No ice or camp store on-site at the resort which would be helpful to have.

First the good… good location in Fort Walton/Destin area. It was nice to be able to use the hotel amenities across the street or walk to the beach. You have a beautiful bay view if you are on sites 38 or 39.

The not so good… the park is in serous need of maintenance. The sites are narrow and shrubs very overgrown. Do not go by the website pics. They must be at least 10 years old. I have a 45 ft motorhome. Pulling in to site 7, I couldn’t avoid the shrubs and they lightly scratched the passenger side of my coach. With the slides open you have to walk in the sand. The manager (Barry) is a miserable person and very unhelpful. When I told him that his shrubs scratched my coach he said that wasn’t possible. I assure you all it was. The pool is tired (slummy is a better word) and in need of a total make over. The bar next door gets very loud at night. I recommend that if you do go you pick a site on the opposite side of the park. The pool across the street at the Island Hotel is very nice but was crowded, freezing and the drinks are $14 each. After we left I found that Barry charged my card for a vacuum breaker on the site spigot after we left. The breaker was in the sand below the spigot when I got there and was there when I left. I assumed it was not good. When I called him a few days later he was a total jerk and hung up on me. I would not go back there mostly because of Barry and the need to reinvest some of their profits into the park.

Booked for 2 nights, and ended up staying for 4! Caught some great weather at the end of October. Used the pool and bar facilities at The Island Resort across the highway, including their nicely heated pool for our toddler. Had no troubles with staff, everyone we dealt with was friendly, and the park was quiet at night time.

We have a class A and parts of the site were a little tighter to walk around once slides were out, but manageable.

Site privacy was great.

I had such high hopes for this place! I planned this upcoming trip last Sept, and I have been so pumped to try this place out. I paid the majority of my trip upfront (~$650) and I was scheduled to arrive next week. I had to take my dog to the vet yesterday and unfortunately, they found cancer and needed to do emergency surgery to remove his leg. I called the campground and explained that we couldn’t make it in time due to my dog’s surgery and asked to shorten my stay or cancel for any sort of refund, and the very nice man working the desk told me to contact management, because sometimes they make exceptions to the cancellation policy. I completely understand there is a policy within a 30 day period of check-in, and I am one to follow policies. However, this was something unexpected and had to be done. Management ended up telling me that they wouldn’t help me and kept all of my $650 and cancelled my reservation. Again, I completely understand the policy, I was just hoping for anything to help me out as I was looking to just alter my stay or cancel with any sort of refund. Just PLEASE BE AWARE of the refund/cancellation policies, as they do not forgive things that happen out of your control. :(
