About Campground

The inviting waters of Wheeler Lake surround this KOA, perched on a peninsula and dotted with native trees. The campground makes the most of its enviable setting, with sites overlooking the water, right along the waterfront and tucked among the shade trees. Thanks to the campground's own boat ramp, it's easy to get out on the lake for a carefree day of fishing, water-skiing or exploring the TVA chain of lakes. A sandy beach welcomes swimmers, and there's plenty of space for strolling and bird-watching. Rent a kayak, a canoe or a bike (child/adult sizes) to explore the lakeshore or campground.

Before I start my review. I want to personally thank Wayne for making this vacation a true memory for our family. He was was nice and truely went out of his way for my kids. After working all day he was out fishing. He first showed off the fish he caught to my kids. My son had tried for days to catch a fish, without any luck. Wayne helped him get his fishing pole set up better and within 5 minutes he had a fish. The true joy in my son was so special to see!!!! He then checked in on my kids to see how the fishing went over night. If that wasn’t enough, my kids found a turtle nest and told him. He went and found a way to protect the nest.

The other workers were all super nice and helpful as well. The kindly removed a wasp from the tire swing so my kids won’t get stung.

When I tell you this is one of the absolute best family vacations we ever had!!!! We came down for a family reunion and on a whim decided to camp at the KOA. What a hidden gem it is! We stayed over Memorial Day Weekend and every thing was so organized. We stayed at camp site 101. It was a beautiful tent site, right on the lake. The swimming was great, playground, showers/ bathrooms, laundry, & store. We didn’t participate in the rope climb or horse back riding but was neat to look at. There is a lot of bugs so just prepare especially if tent camping (not a lot of mosquitoes that we experienced). Hands down we will be back again!

Awesome experience for my first time visiting a KOA. I’m a truck driver and went in after being laid over at a nearby delivery location. Semi truck/no trailer. Everything and everyone were wonderful. Our site was P02 lake view right behind it, restrooms conveniently across the way, short walk to the trail, pier, and beach front. Enjoyed it and definitely will return.

I chose this KAO only because it was equal distance for my family in Georgia and My family in Kentucky to meet for a summer camping adventure. We have been overwhelmed with the beautiful campground that is well kept and the sites are large and spread out nicely. The views are fantastic as well. My parents and Sister’s family had cabins and they were clean and comfortable. We backed into a full hookup site on the peninsula. Site 16. Sites are level and clean. Nice fire rings with grill tops. My family spent time at the beach, rented the pontoon and the jet ski. The staff has been so friendly. Our kids did the ropes course and had a blast. We cannot say enough great things about this KOA. They are doing great and after speaking with the owner who was also involved in all the day to days they have plans to make this KOA even more spectacular. Highly recommend. We will be back.

Really nice campground. And very clean. Beautiful scenery and lots to do. The staff are very nice and helpful. Just a heads up, the waterside RV spots do not have a sewer connection but there is a dump site on property. We’ll stay here again. Very peaceful.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The view we had was amazing. Every morning and evening. The staff were so friendly. The bathrooms were clean. They could use some upgrades in the bathrooms but still very clean. Our kids did the zipline and Rob the instructor was amazing. He really knew how to help my son over his fear of heights. Our fall break was such a great week.
