Honeycomb Campground, the popular campground and day use area owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority on Lake Guntersville, AL, re-opened in 2009. There are currently 141 short-term and long-term stay sites available. Most of these sites have electricity and water. There is a dump station on site and a pumping service is available for campers who do not want to move their RV. The campground offers a newly built general store and laundry room. Our recently renovated bath houses are walk-in units offering complete privacy.
Very nice! Peaceful, well taken care of facility. Restroom and shower areas very clean. I’ve already recommended y’all to all my friends and family. And posted on Facebook and on our local community page to go check it out!
We are very pleased with our stay! This is our 2nd time to stay! The locaction is beautiful and lots of amenities and things to do! My son loves the playground and beach area! We also rented a pontoon boat both times. The boats are excellent quality for a reasonable rental fee! The staff is very helpful and friendly!
Home away from home. This was our first time camping at Honeycomb and after staying for a week (5 days/4 nights) we hope to plan many more stays. The scenery was gorgeous, the campground clean, well maintained and everyone there was so nice. We pull a 19’ Coleman camper and it was very easy to back into our site and since the pad was already so level, it took minimal effort on our part to level out our camper. We had a beautiful spot right on the waters edge, we woke to warm and bright sunrises as well as enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the lake with the many many frogs providing a lovely Summers Serenade. I typically use the campground’s shower/restroom facilities and I was pleased to see they were kept very clean and supplied. Being able to purchase ice after hours at the campground store was very convenient, we would have purchased firewood this way as well but the July temps didn’t really encourage a campfire. I did cook our dinners using the fire ring and grill which were also clean and well maintained. While we were there, we hiked the TVA Honeycomb Trail which begins directly outside the campground entrance. We made a couple wrong turns (my land-Nav skills are rusty) we hiked 12 miles and didn’t actually make it to the Dam..again, my fault. Nevertheless, we still crave the fresh water from the spring we happened upon! We spent a lot of time swimming at the beach and we had a great time, the fish were very sociable and entertaining! There was a lot of grass floating on top of the water but from what I’m told by others who camp at Honeycomb frequently, that is not common, I get it though, it’s a lake! The docks were well kept and we enjoyed walking on them and they make for beautiful photo ops! Making reservations was an easy process, I made ours online and we didn’t run into any snags. We were at site 82 which was beautiful but there are some other sites that we hope to try out as well.
Thank you Honeycomb for making our trip a memorable one!!
We booked this site 10 months ago to camp with a bunch of friends. We had never been but they had. I was thrilled the site was as beautiful as they described. I had two different days I needed to call and cancel and both times I called it was quick and easy to make the adjustment. Since we stayed less than 48 hours, not having sewer was not an issue for us. We only had to wait for one other person to dump on the way out and it didn’t take long at all. I loved being right on the water and the spaces were large and had great picnic tables and for pits. We had a great time!
Very clean! Camp hosts were amazing! They blew leaves & pine straw like crazy! Shower facilities were as clean as possible. A little outdated, but EVERYTHING else was superior. The laundry room was older but worked great & washed/dried perfect! We will DEFINITELY be back! Our family will love the swim area & the boat slips. The spots are perfectly sized & spread out just perfect!
