This place was fantastic we just got home today from a little getaway to the northern woods !! We had such a great time .. hotel was clean and accommodating .. nice clean kitchenette plenty of room we had our rowdy pups with us .. no complaints.. we tried to keep them quiet but .. my husband got to do a camp fire and make s’mores with the grands !! They enjoyed it .. little putt golf was fun for them.. pool was fun and not too deep for the kids .. store was accommodating and well stocked .. and prices were reasonable!! All in All it was a good trip made easier because of Deans Resort!! Oh and by the way the the local wine they sell is Fantastic!! My eldest grandson had a wonderful time drawing the hostess a Beatles picture.. he’s a fan and so are they … thank you Deans we had a blast !!… we will be coming back next year with the grands And Both daughters and their families.. so expect our calls!! Thanks again

Dean Creek gets a bad rap because of the devastation of this sweet little community's economy.

No, the resort is not what it was before Prop64 but give the proprieters a break! These are locals trying to feed their families, not a multinational corporation. They can't exactly open another franchise until the economy improves.

I stayed here in 2022. I reserved my campsite online and was limited to a week's stay. I am in a minivan and could have booked a tent site, but I'm a boondocker and wanted FULL RV hookups to recharge my power banks (not enough sun for my solar in Cali), refill freshwater tanks, empty grey water, take a shower, etc.

The staff was friendly, professional, and nonjudgemental. The long term residents were respectful and their sites were tidy, attractive, and well cared for.

My dogs were accepted and I got to take a shower, use my laptop with their wifi, play video games all night long, and recharge my batteries.

The resort is conveniently located near Garberville and the less expensive shopping district in Redway. The kiddos can go play in the river without ever leaving the campsite, iirc, and though the rent may shock you, it is well worth it in light if Cali's notoriously exhorbitant petrol prices and not exactly undeserved reputation of being unfriendly to RVers.

I'm giving them five stars because they deserve a break. If they had more income, they could install the security cameras I would wish for and this resort could easily return to its former glory.

Have fun and enjoy SoHum!

If I could leave zero stars I would. I haven't gone on vacation with family in years! And was finally able to get away from work. The paper they gave us said no more than FIVE people (kids under 12 were free) per camp site and no more than 3 tents. The first night here we had 3 tents and they told us to take it down so we did. The next day they said no more than 2 adults ( we had 4) and that we had to pay extra. Each day someone came and tried to charge us for things. The owner said that it was never allowed to have more than 2 adults but the paper they gave us said otherwise so it's so confusing. It just seems suspicious because at check in they were saying how dead they were this weekend then randomly they're tacking on extra fees.. besides the rude service everything is trashed. I felt so disgusted using the bathrooms. The pool was dirty and filthy. They probably never cleaned anything. The playground had trash everywhere. I wouldn't let my kids here at all! The river was the cleanest part of this place which is wild! The permanent residents in RVs have trash everywhere too. Very ghetto place. I would feel safer sleeping in my car literally ANYWHERE else. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
