Teal Campground is located a mile north of Williams Creek Campground along Forest Rd. 640, overlooking Williams Creek Reservoir. It has 16 first-come, first-serve sites with views of surrounding peaks. A few large ponderosa pines give some shade, but much of the area is open and grassy. Only a few sites are suitable for larger RVs. Teal is popular, so plan to arrive early on busy summer weekends and holidays. Services include potable water, trash pickup, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire grates.
Directions from Pagosa Springs, Colorado: Travel 2.0 miles west on U.S. Hwy 160, then turn northwest on Forest Development Road #631 for 22.0 miles. Turn north on Forest Development Road #640 1.0 mile to campground entrance. Teal Campground is a mile north of Williams Creek Campground.
This is the cleanest and best managed campground I've been to in many years. The campers are quiet and respectful. Not a place if you are interested in loud or unruly activities. We loved the book exchange in the restrooms. This is a supremely scenic location with exceptional views of the Williams Resovoir. Plenty of access to great hiking in the area. Plan to stay a while, I can guarantee you will not want to leave!
Just finished snowshoeing out here with my girl and the lake had a thick fog settle over it. Was an amazing day. The mountains and valleys are breathtaking.
We go every year! Our favorite campground! Gorgeous views. Peaceful. Quiet.
Love this campground. Bathroom (vault style) are always clean as well as the sites. Short walk or drive to reservoir for great boating or swimming
