About Campground

**Bear activity has been increasing. For this reason a food storage order is in effect at all developed campgrounds on the Eagle/Holy Cross Ranger District, and the Piney Guard Station, Tigiwon Lodge, Mount of the Holy Cross Overlook, Homestake Road FSR 703, and Nolan Creek Road. This order requires all food and refuse to be stored in hard-sided vehicles, approved bear-resistant containers, or supended at least 10 feet clear of the ground at all points and four feet horizontally from any supporting tree or pole. This order has been issued to provide for public safety and wildlife conservation. Hopefully it will reduce wildlife habituation problems. ** The Hornsilver Campground is located right off Highway 24 about 10 miles south of the town of Minturn, CO. It is directly across Hwy 24 from the Homestake Creek, which offers fishing opportunities. There are several trailheads off Homestake Road #703, which is about 1 mile south of the campground on Hwy.24. There is a printable Recreation Quicksheet for this campground which is complete with directions, details, and other information about this campground.

Directions

From Minturn, CO, take US Rt. 24 west 7.9 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign into one section or right into the other.

Extremely beautiful campground. Clean toilets but the worst experience camping I have ever had. There are very few campsites and they are close together. No one was friendly. The lady in the site by us (starts with mar and ends with gret) was extremely rude and made it a miserable experience. Don't think I'll ever stay here again.

Bathroom was cleaner than some hotels! Easy access off the road. Beautifully place between the mountains so you can enjoy all the stars on a moonless night.

Amazing primitive campground. Prices weren't available at the pay box but I quickly learned it's 19 a night! I'd give 5 stars but no shower..
