In mid August 2022 we pulled and even got our trailer into a space then found the water hookup was on wrong side from sewage. We looked around and decided to follow the #1 RVer rule: if it feels unsafe then leave. Luckily we had not paid yet some RV had missing sections of tires like they had not been moved in decades. Best avoid this place. Try the state campground at Trinidad lake.

Place was a pull over due to high winds. Would not recommend as it is packed with permanent rigs, and I mean packed. They owners were nice but just didn't feel comfortable all night. We left at first light.

This place is quiet & very low keyed with a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Room, including linens, was clean and fresh and in my non-smoking room there was no hint of cigarette smell. While the rooms are dated, they are comfortable & clean and we'll maintained. The on-site folks who run the place are great to deal with, are a wealth of information, and are very well respected in the community (I know this in talking to various business owners). Great value for the money. Locally owned & operated. Would stay there again.

This was my first time staying at an rv park so I have no previous experience to compare it to. Overall, 4 stars because kindness goes a long way!

The place is dated as it was built in the 1930's. The parking spaces are small. Neither of these were of issue for me as I have a class B rig and really only spent the night there.

I did not use the wifi or the water. Since we have not yet christened our vehicle with poo yet, I was not ready to have the experience of cleaning out the black tank with anything other than pee. I used the facilities at the park instead of the wet bath onboard our rig. Since I arrived after the office closed, I had no code for the bathroom. And since I awoke before the office opened, someone was kind enough to let me into the ladies bathroom. Just in time too! The code is at the top of your paperwork when you check in along with the wifi information and such.

The wifi? I do not trust free wifi anywhere. I do have a VPN. Still, I do not use free wifi. So no clue how reliable it is or not.

I had no issues navigating the park while driving our class b rv. Being a class b, we are smaller than many others on the road. It does look tight for those who are bigger than ours. Then again, there are some that have been there so long that they have built on extra rooms. Some are abandoned. Never could figure out if the one next to me was abandoned or just introverts. Did not matter to me. Figured abandoned rigs make for quiet non nosey neighbors.

Cawthon for me was clean, quiet, and conveniently located. The electric worked fine. The bathroom was clean. The noisiest thing I heard was an occasional vehicle driving down the road and one of the dogs barking in a distance. I would go to sleep. Wake up. Go out for the day. After dinner, I would come back and get ready for bed.

I plan on visiting Trinidad in the future and hopeful to stay at Cawthon again.

P.S. Dye your hair before arriving as it is prohibited in the restrooms at Cawthon.

Came in late kinda hard to find on Google. But finally landed there in our 35 ft motorhome. They had a map to find an open spot then come back to office to put in your registration info and pay $35 for the night. Very quiet
