We Rented one of their jeeps for the day to take up the Medano Primitive Road.
Chris was very friendly and gave us plenty of advice for things to see on the way up.
The jeep was spotless and performed perfectly for the task at hand. We had a blast!
Highly recommended!
Excellent place to get off grid. Chris was super welcoming host making sure we had everything we needed. We brought our camper van and were pretty self contained but it was great to have access to clean bathrooms and hot shower. The views were epic and the stars were incredible. Close drive to the Sand Dunes National Park. We spent a week in solitude and it was awesome. No problem generating solar.
Verizon works on 1 or 2 bars depending where you are but can also drop all together, so we ended up setting up our Starlink.
Close drive to Alamosa for supplies or there is a gas station close by with pretty decent stock. Recommend driving down Lane 6 and turning on Rd 113. GPS will bring you down Lane 4 which is unpaved, Lane 6 is paved all the way.
The tent sites are spread out and look to be really high quality and the safari tents looked really cool! There’s also a super awesome communal space with cooking and lounging.
If you want an off grid spot with an excellent host and access to bathroom and showers I can’t recommend enough.
We had an amazing stay at the Dunes Desert Camp. The perfect balance of an off-the-grid and serene location to stargaze, chat and cook around the communal campfire with the convenience of easy trips to local attractions. Highlights included hot springs, Zapata Falls, local breweries and a sunset hike at the Great Sand Dunes National Park! The Dunes Desert Camp is a truly magical place. The Dunes team created such a memorable experience, and we can’t wait to go back!
