From South: The major access point is along VT Rt. 17 for the Long Trail, which crosses the road at the top of Appalachian Gap. The parking area next to VT Rt. 17 is available year round. Approaching from the west it is about 9.6 miles from VT Rt. 17’s junction with VT Rt. 116 near Bristol, approaching from the east it is about 6.1 miles from VT Rt. 17’s junction with VT Rt. 100 in the Waitsfield area.
I hiked Monroe trail to the top of Camels Hump Vermont's 3rd highest peak. It's a great trail with some amazing views at the top. If you are planning to hike here make sure you get to the parking lot early because it fills up fast.
Did the hike up Burrows Trail. Very nice hike, challenging but the 360 degrees view at the top makes it worth it. Only thing that would make it nicer is maybe a sign halfway through the trail to let hikers know how far they've come.
Camel’s Hump trail via Mount Abraham and Lincoln Peak. 7 miles hike, beautiful weather and amazing views once you reach the top of Mount Abraham, it’s a very challenging hike with steep rocks and muddy, lots of spiderwebs and cute living things. Plenty of beautiful fungi as well.
Cloudy but not in the clouds. Monroe to summit and around summit to bypass which is side of the mountain nearly horizontal rock scramble for a bit until it is a nice trail. Challenging and rewarding. We spotted the Bomber wing easily on the way down. Wonderful hike!
