It is located 26 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station on Highway 108. There are a total of 28 camping sites; two double sites and four walk-in sites. The main road and parking pads are dirt-surfaced. Restrooms are vault toilets. Water is from 3 wells with hand pumps. A fee is charged for extra vehicle parking. A trail next to the host site leads to the river.
26 miles east of Pinecrest on Highway 108.
Nice boulder backdrop with close access to running river. Many tall trees to shade its campers!
Very clean campground! Great fishing! And the US forest very helpful with any questions you may have. Keep up the great work!
Great secluded campground. All sites are adequately far from each other, no feeling to sleep or eat in your neighbour's tent... The water pump was a little bit hard to operate, but works if you put enough effort into it ;-) Perfect location on the upper part of CA-108, near Sonora Pass.
Almost all of the campsites are big or back to a central grassy area. The campsites on the outside of the loop back to the river. Aim for spots 1 or 2 or 17-20ish? They have water views are big enough and close to out houses. It was 18/per night in June 2017. The photos I posted are of campsite 3 which was pretty small but big enough and near bathrooms.
Great campground on State Route 108 west of Kennedy Meadows. Makes for a very nice basecamp for activities in Stanislaus National Forest, the Emigrant Wilderness, and Levitt Meadows/lake/peak. Another plus is the great swimming hole on the Stanislaus River about a mile east on 108 at Douglas Flat picnic area.
