Been camping there since 1969. Only thing that ruins the camping, Motorhomes running generators all day, so they can watch HBO all day. When ten dollar gas gets here, maybe they will camp in their driveways. $50 license to catch two fish now is also making it less fun. New world.
We have been camping here for years. It’s a nice place to camp right on the creek. So makes for some easy fishing for the kids and they love to fish here because it is always stocked. Then us adults can walk the creek and fish while watching the kids with us all catching fish. They learn pretty fast that walking the creek and moving around catches the bigger fish. So they learn fast how to really fish!
Very small campground that fills up fast! We’re fortunate to have kind, attentive Camp Hosts here who keep the bathrooms clean and help explain the rules.
The only water is a delightful old-fashioned hand pump in the center of the campground: I say delightful because I enjoyed the upper arm workout each time I needed water (!)
Chimpmunks abound, deer 🦌 occasional visitors. The creek is lovely, but accompanied by plenty of midges.
Great campsite, nice people, just a bit close to the road for unbroken sleep. We were there during the week and it was quiet, seemed like it was busier in the weekend. Vault toilets were pretty clean and pump water was tasty. No bear boxes though there was a warning sign, we had all food in the car and no problems. Nice view on the creek for dinner! And lots of cute chipmunks ready to steal your food when you turn your back.
No mobile service from about an hour south of the campground till you get to Chester, the closest town with a store.
It is kind of close to the highway, but my dog enjoyed jumping in Deer Creek. We did not camp, just a rest stop.
