THIS WAS MY ULTIMATE HAPPY PLACE & MY "PEACE & JOY!"
I fell in love with my soul mate & we have our initials carved in one of the few trees left standing! Conklin was THE PERFECT CAMPING PLACE IN EVERY WAY & WHERE My first child took her first bath there in the pond, all my kids, learned how to swim, went on their first camping trips, first caught fish & crawdads; etc. So needless to say I WILL ALWAYS a very special connection to this hidden oasis.....BUT this year seeing the damage done by the fires......was seriously got wrenching in heartbreaking!
HOWEVER!!
Next year it should be back to be a truly magical & best kept treasure once again! I can hardly wait to see how Conklin when rise from the ashes, quit literally.......& shows us all just how beautiful a refining renewal really can be!
Stayed here 4 days, no fees, 1 pit toilet, lots of Jeffrey Pines, road is very rough driving to it, creek is about a foot wide, no potable water on site, and very quiet. I think people use it as a dog park. Nearby peak mountain is awesome to climb with great views of the entire valley.
This campsite is truly a hidden gem! No fees, clean toilet, surrounded by beautiful nature. There’s no spigot for water, but a very clean stream is located at the edge of camp. Bring your water filter and drink all you want!
