Calf Creek Campground is a desert oasis located within the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The Recreation Area includes a 13-site campground, a day-use picnic area and a trailhead. The campground provides small sites nestled along Calf Creek on a first-come, first-served basis. Elevation 5400 ft. campsites in Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument. Self-guided interpretive trail to Calf Creek Falls (126 feet). 6 mile round trip.
Calf Creek Recreation Area Campground is located 15 Miles east of Escalante UT on Highway 12. From Escalante go 15 miles east on UT 12.
Calf Creek Campground provides 13 campsites. They are first-come first-serve at $15.00 per campsite per night. Interagency Senior and Access Pass Holders receive 50% off camping fees.
5 star camping if you can get a site. We camped with a small tear-drop trailer and while it was too hot to comfortably sleep the first night, the location and the experience was fantastic. We hiked up the canyon to the falls and yes, it was just as far and hot and sandy and tiring as I remember from years ago. But so worth it at the end with the cool water and beautiful waterfalls.
Tougher hike than Utah's website led us to believe but making it to the Lower Calf Creek Falls was amazing! 88°air temp made the water feel like it was 50°! Scenery along the way was beautiful!
Lovely small campground along calf creek. BLM $15 per night. Only RVs shorter than 25ft, tight road and turnarounds. Cool suspension bridge and swimming hole. Best part is the hike to see the spectacular Calf Creek Falls!

The campground is always busy. There are 13 rentable sites and the parking lot is for the Calf Creek Falls trailhead. The trail is 3 miles one way of mostly sand and rock steps to the waterfall but it’s well worth the hike. Water and flush toilets available.
