Travel with caution and arrive prepared to take care of yourself in this amazing wilderness region. The roads are often deep sand and all navigation should be by paper map or actual GPS map device since cell phone coverage is very poor. Understand your vehicle and know how to handle deep sandy driving and be prepared with plenty of water and also the basic equipment to handle a desert driving emergency if you get stuck.
5 star camping if you can get a site. We camped with a small tear-drop trailer and while it was too hot to comfortably sleep the first night, the location and the experience was fantastic. We hiked up the canyon to the falls and yes, it was just as far and hot and sandy and tiring as I remember from years ago. But so worth it at the end with the cool water and beautiful waterfalls.
Interesting bridge built in 1966 as part of the Glen Canyon Dam project to reroute highways around Lake Powell. The bridge crosses the Colorado River and while there are no services at this location, there is parking nearby and this can be a good place to stretch in the middle of a long drive.
We had an excellent visit to the park and camped in Arch loop with water and electric hookups. This loop is excellent sites and the partial hookup option makes this an all season campsite. The site was nearly level, had to use one set of leveling blocks. The night was quiet with rabbits roaming the camp at sunset and stars in the dark.
