About Campground

Located along 1600 ft of the North Toe River, Buck Hill Campground is the perfect place for families to relax and play! We offer sixty-nine large shady RV sites, each equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and full hookups with 20, 30, and 50 amp service.

The campground features 144 acres of hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy a lazy ride down the river on one of our river tubes, spend the day fishing from our trout filled waters stocked by the State Hatchery, or enjoy a challenging hike to the top of Buck Hill Mountain!

Primitive tent campers will enjoy our open grassy fields overlooking our pond, as well fire rings, picnic tables, water spigots, and several wooden deck pads. For those that like to camp but prefer to sleep on a bed as opposed to pitching a tent, enjoy our camping cabins!! And if you prefer “glamping” then our new tiny home cabins provide all the amenities of home! If you are looking for a quiet family & pet friendly campground, you’ve just found your new home away from home!

Fantastic campground!! Super friendly staff, great recreational areas, and outstanding bathhouse (rain fall shower heads, rock floor, and tile walls). I absolutely loved the gathering room area at the bathhouse…had to work remotely for my job many mornings/nights and this room made it feel like I was working at my own kitchen table. Wishing we were still there and didn’t have to leave.

Stayed in the Honeymoon Cabin ( Cabin #6). The other reviews that say you really have to see it for yourself are spot on. The pictures of the cabin and the campground really don’t do it justice.

Gorgeous property, you cross a stream over a bridge to enter. Surrounded by mountains on all sides of the convenient access to a wonderfully kept 1.5 mile trail leading straight to an overlook over the cabin. Christopher and family are wonderful hosts and go above and beyond to accommodate requests and make sure your stay is pleasant.

Cabin was spotless, bed was comfortable, jacuzzi was clean, firewood was available (which we used to make s’mores).

If stuck deciding between Buck Hill and another place, I can’t recommend this enough. Would definitely return in the future.

WOW! We are finishing up our camping season with a few days down South. Happened to book Buck Hill. Nicest bath house we’ve seen. And we’ve seen about 90 this summer! Such a welcoming, well-kept gem. You’ve got to see this to believe it! Another camper stopped to say hello and offered to drive our trash to dumpster! Ran into owner, Christopher, as we finished our hike. He was simply wonderful. Full of fun facts. If you are ever in Newland NC, do yourself a favor and book a few nights here. You’ll be so glad you did!!

We stayed at Buck Hill this past weekend and had an amazing time! We enjoyed the campground so much. All the activities here and the facilities were first class! I have never, in 20+ years of camping seen a bathhouse as nice as yours. Randy was also the best camp host we have ever encountered while camping. He was like an entertainment director as well as an all around super helpful guy. He is so friendly and I can see the effort he makes to go over the top with hospitality! Thanks again!

We had a beautiful weekend get away in the mountains at Buck Hill! The cabin was lovely, the hiking had amazing views, and the pickle ball courts were so much fun! The service there was incredible! Randy made us feel like family and is doing an incredible make over on the bathrooms. Very upscale. We will be back!
