About Campground

We are so glad you are considering spending time in the great outdoors of central Nebraska with us.

At Blue Heron, you will find many comforting amenities accompanied by gorgeous scenery and plenty to do. Please let us know if there is anything you need regarding your stay!

The summer of 2021, we were able to snatch on to this little piece of Heaven right here in Central Nebraska. With the quaint town of Gothenburg nearby, the scenery, and the mission to embrace the outdoors, we couldn't pass up making this place a part of our family. We promise to keep the grounds up to par, and the amenities consistent, because we value our campers and their safety and security.

We stopped here for the night on our way home from South Dakota. Placed reservation on the online (Campspot). We got there and a camper was in our spot. No one was there so called and the gentleman directed us to another site. Very nice he came out to make sure all was okay. Bathrooms were very clean. Had trash and dirt in our fire pit but we didn’t use it anyway. Sites were nice easy in and out. Right off 80 east to get to. You did hear traffic and trains but we also had our windows open. Plus it didn’t bother us slept great!

Note: I do have bias, as the previous owners were my grandparents, and in fact I lived in the house behind the gas station. Cabins are cozy, pool used to be nice, and the rest rooms are clean, plus good hunting areas. Reading some of the lower ratings makes me sad, as my Grandpa, Barry has Parkinson's Disease, and can't do anything on the campsites, and my Grandma is the babysitter of all the grandchildren, used to spend all the time I could with my cousins/family here. 5/5 would recommend.

Blue Heron Campground has always been a staple spot for us when going over to the White River to fish! This year they have added 2 luxury cabins and we saw them for the first time while RVing this weekend and they are absolutely gorgeous! The access to the water will be the best you can find anywhere on the river. There is a well maintained boat ramp, huge open green space, a nice pavilion for larger gatherings, etc. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer campground anywhere on the river! It is maintained meticulously and the staff are so accommodating! This will be a place that our family will come for years to come! Thank you Blue Heron staff and owners for providing such a great place to make lifeling memories!

you read a lot of reviews and it makes you wonder what people expect.I highly doubt this location is a hub of tourism so most are overnight travellers. The location is full service for a reasonable price..There is grass and mature trees which is more than I can say for half the gravel parking lot camps we stayed at for twice the price..The owner was there late to help park 2 massive motorhomes, when most places you see no one. Firewood was free for a school donation when others charge $ 11 for a few pieces of firewood..Very quiet, close to highway. Laundry was very good and $2.25 for wash and dry when others were $6..Bathrooms are dated and showers need upgrade..This is a nice place for travellers to stop along the way to other destinations..Picnic tables , fire pits, and pet friendly...thank you for a safe and quiet place.
