What a wonderful little campground. Very nice pool. Clean bathroom/showers. Campground location allowed us to ride our bikes to the Roanoke Island Festival Park! Glenn our Camp host was was helpful and very personable! We will certainly visit again soon!

Our new happy place!

Our first time here and what a great gem! Small campground without much to but the pool, so be prepared to explore Manteo and the OBX beaches. Close to all the thing Manteo has to offer. A tight fit for a big rig, but we made it work. We liked how it was off the beaten path, but close enough to be an OBX tourist. We already made reservations to come back!

Spot: 49. Traveled in a 38' Class A Motorhome.

Booking: Online or phone. (Booked online.) They do not assign spots until the day of your arrival.

Drive in: Easy on and off from Route 64. (Don't miss the turn onto Bowertown Road. (Easy to miss.)

Interior roads: Gravel. Wide enough to maneuver. The fact that the sites are not at an angle makes it difficult to not run over the grass, but we did the best we could.

Space size: Just wide enough for our rig + plus another car. (We kept it parked by the pool to give us more room.)

Facilities: Full hookup at all the sites. Bathrooms were clean. Great pool. (Kids loved it. The sunsets were amazing.) You have to walk down the street a bit to the dumpsters, but that did not bother us. Only thing we wished this campground had was a dog park. Also, fire pits are not allowed, so be prepared for that.

Cleanliness: Overall clean campground. Well maintained. Some seasonal campers, but a good mix of both.

Staff: Glenn, the camp host was very gracious. Did not see too much of any other staff members over the weekend. But since we didn't have any problems, this did not bother us either.

Activities: Although not much to do at the campground, there is a lot to do in Manteo. Visited Festival Park, walked around downtown and enjoyed wine from Bluegrass Trading Company. We missed the Lost Colony Play, but that just gives us a reason to come back!

Wifi: Good Wifi. Was able to stream a movie at night.

Food: Plenty of great places to eat that are not that far from the campground. We had dinner at Poor Richard's Sandwich shop (very great spot.) Carolina Bar-B-Que, Srtipers, Darrells, and the Lost Tavern are on our list for next time.

We were very excited about this small, quiet campground that is off the beaten path for most OBX campers. We will certainly be back.

Great campground off the beaten path. Quiet, friendly campers, chirping birds, close to lots to do in the southern beaches.

There was a great chlorine pool with super clean bathrooms. People have said it is a salt water pool but the pool guy puts chlorine in it every morning, he said the gunnite is still absorbing chemicals. It is heated for those chillier months on each end of the hot summer, something to remember for our fall visit. The sunsets on the pool deck were stunning!

If you walk down the lane to the pond, dog park or disc golf park you can keep walking and see Beechland Farm. There were chickens, rooters, ducks, goats, donkeys, and horses. Please only look, DO NOT touch!!! - they belong to someone else. The dumpsters were located between the parks/pond and the farm - not a bad walk or a drive on the way out.

Other campers were super friendly and helped with recommendations about where to eat, shop, fish, sunbathe, play or visit. The campground was about a mile from downtown Manteo, which made bike riding pretty easy.

Beechland Campground was also within walking distance of the Bowsertown Boating Ramp. It has a channel that takes you out to the sound for fantastic fishing. There is a kayak company who hosts Bioluminescence & Full Moon Night Kayak Tours, they meet at the Bowswertown Boat Ramp. We did not get to do this, but want to make sure to add it to the list for next time.

The campground had wireless internet, which was fast and worked across the campground. There was no cable TV, so we had to bring our own streaming device for regular tv. There were about 3 or 4 PBS channels but the content repeated and got old seeing the same thing over and over.

There was a dog park that you can access through the gate on the lane towards the farm. The fencing around the park was high at the bottom, so our small dogs did not go for a run. There is a leash law in Dare County / Manteo, so we needed to keep the babies leased at all times. Throughout the park they had dog stations with poo bags for when we forgot or ran out of our bags.

For disc golf lovers, there were 2 stations set up near the pond. There is a 9 hole course at the northeast end of Roanoke Island. No pets are allowed and it is only disc golf, so no disruptions or waiting on pets to do their business.

The sound water was near the disc golf course at the northeast end of the island. We fished and dangled in the beachy area. The sound water was much warmer than the ocean water and we caught very different fish.

The Lost Colony runs every summer night until the end of August - the show teaches the importance of the area. It's a very unique outdoor experience with locals and students who come to Manteo for that production.

We reserved the NC Aquarium for a rainy part of a day and the Elizabethan Gardens had nice walking trails and beautiful native flowers.

The campground was really quiet. Most campers kept the volume down on stereos/TV's so we sat outside often in the evenings. We heard birds chirping and occasionally we saw a bald eagle or osprey flying back to the nest with fish.

It was a great vacation and we can't wait to be there again!

We loved this no-frills campground. Upon arrival, we were greates by the camp host, Glenn who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We stayed at Beechland for 6 days and really enjoyed our stay. The hook ups all looked new and this may have been the cleanest camp ground I've ever stayed at. The bathrooms, showers and pool were pristine. We saw a staff member cleaning them every day at 9am. We brought our dogs with us. There was plenty of grass for them, a dog park, and several bag stations. Beechland is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Manteo and is only a 10- 15 minute drive to Nags Head Beach.

Beechland doesn't have a laundry room or campstore but there is a grocery store, laundromat and coffee shop just down the road.

Glenn & the staff were courteous & very professional. We traveled 7 hours down the east coast during a tropical storm hauling our camper, very scary situation but Glenn made our experience more enjoyable just by being so wonderful & understanding. The campground itself is small, very quiet & secluded which was nice. Nice bath house & pool with many area attractions on this small island. Highly recommend for a single person, couples or small families.
