About Campground

Bike. Glamp. Chill.

Base Camp is a 21-acre modern glampground + RV park, trailhead, and bike park in Humboldt, Kansas adjacent to the Southwind rail trail.

Spend your time around the property fishing, kayaking (life jackets and paddles available), biking or relaxing. Or take a very short car ride or (bike ride) into town where you'll find great coffee, breakfast and lunch (Wednesday-Sunday), the sweetest French candy shop, and the largest selection of whiskies in SEK served up at the coolest local honky tonk around.

Your stay includes access to all of our amenities:

\-Basecamp quarry pond where you can fish and use any of our kayaks and canoes.

\-Bicycles. Borrow any of our bikes located in the communal Bike Barn. Enjoy a ride on the 60 mile South Wind Trail or ride into town to explore more of Humboldt. We also have a bike skills course located at the front of the property perfect for beginners and experienced riders alike. (Bicycles are available on a first come first serve basis and are shared between all of our guests).

Things to know:

\-Picnic tables, grills, fire pits and hammocks are located all throughout the property for your convenience.

\-Shower House and Restrooms are located on the backside of the property connected via a gravel path from the parking lot. Heads up - it's a decent walk from the RV hooks ups.

This is an excellent spot. Very relaxing the staff is extremely helpful! Accommodations are excellent and as you can see it’s a beautiful spot! There is a bike skills corse. A community room with pool table games and little shop. The pond has canoes, kayaks and SUP’s. The location has direct trail access to the South wind rail trail as well.

Great place to camp. A frames and cabins to rent, as well as large, flat land to tent it. Close to bike path. Clean bathrooms, showers.

Base Camp in Humboldt, KS is a great place to relax by the pond, play at the bike park, or bike the Southwind Rail Trail. It's a great place to stop, rest, and refill your water when biking from Iola to Humboldt on the rail trail.

I stayed in one of the mini-A cabins while doing a two day bicycle trip. The Base Camp Humboldt is literally next to the Southwind Rail Trail which connects directly to the Prairie Spirit Trail leading all the way to Ottawa, 60 miles north. They have three of the minis and three larger one room cabins. The larger ones are on the edge of the pond. The three mini units are tucked under the shade of large trees. The whole complex can’t be more than a few months old, everything looked brand new. It’s so new that Google satellite image from 2023 doesn’t show the mini cabins, the gravel trail system or the huge new concrete parking lot. My unit had a comfortable bed (linens are not provided) The shower house has several stalls containing individual showers or flush toilets. Remember this is a several acre camp, not a hotel, it’s even in the name. I missed out on the chance to sit on the porch or the campfire pit because it started raining minutes after I arrived ….sure appreciated that hot shower after a long bike ride though.
