Dam Quarry Campground is an angler's paradise. Located in northern Arkansas, just downstream of the Norfork Dam, the campground is renowned for its world-class trout fishing.
The Norfork Lake region was one of the state's first water recreation areas with opportunities like water skiing, canoeing, scuba diving, and of course, fishing.
While fishing is the top-rated activity in the lower river area, kayaking, birding and hiking are also very popular.
The public land around Norfork keeps hunters busy with white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrel, rabbit and quail.
Kids will enjoy the playground and everyone will find fun in the water. A boat ramp is on-site and a marina is located just above the dam. Everything but the group sites have electric hookups.
The campground sits at the banks of the North Fork River and Dry Run Creek. The river feeds the popular 22,000-acre Norfork Lake, which is just upstream from Dam Quarry. The site has beautiful views of the forested hills and hollows of the Ozarks.
A short drive south takes visitors to the Ozark National Forest for sightseeing and wildlife spotting. The campground is also just three miles northeast of the small town of Norfork.
Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee.
From Mountain Home, AR, take State Route 5 south 14 miles to Salesville, then turn left on State Route 177 for 2 miles. Park is located below Norfolk Dam. Follow signs into the campground.
It is an absolutely wonderful place to camp! The bathrooms were clean and air-conditioned. The grounds were clean. We had spot 14, and it was big enough for our large tent. I appreciate the Rangers making rounds. All the staff that we spoke to were very friendly as well. My family can't wait to go back.
Men coming to this Campground for many years run by the Army Corps of Engineers and I'm telling you it's going downhill it needs maintenance cleanup repair it's a very nice place to camp and go fishing but come on Corps of Engineers let's do some upkeep
The campground was clean and well cared for. The bathroom and shower facilities were great. The store was well stocked. The covered picnic tables were very nice as we had rain a couple of mornings.
Just drove through after a fishing trip at genes so judge my review based on that, but seems like a well-maintained campground. It has a playground for kids, restrooms and showers, and easy access to the river to do some fishing. I saw many people wade out into the river from this site while fishing at Gene's. If I visit here again I may consider just camping out.
We arrived on Saturday evening & leaving Saturday morning. Beautiful views of Norfork river & Dry Run creek. Last couple days has been in the 90° during day however it feels cooler because of breeze off the river hitting you. Will definitely be back. It’s hard to book, so don’t wait and book a year in advance. Bathroom are clean and cooled. The fish hatchery is just across the road. There is a swim area up by the damn on lake side.
