From Hoxie, go eight miles northwest on U.S. 63, then six miles south on Ark. 25 to the park.
My brother and I had a great time. The White Oaks trail was did offer a minor challenge due to length and slight uneven terrain. The staff were lovely people, the lady with tge long braid was such an enjoyable person to talk to her. The lake is beautiful.
I grew up coming here about once a year and although it seems well maintained, it was very crowded. I generally visit state parks for the hiking trails now, and although there are 3 here, I only enjoyed one of them, none are wheelchair friendly, and they are all beginner level.
The park is quite nice. There are fishing docks and boat launch. You can rent kayaks at a reasonable price. They say mosquitos can be a problem certain times of the year.
Had my wedding here out on the pier, we rented the pavilion for a reasonable price. It was a country themed wedding in the month of October, it was a little windy and made it a little bit cold but it was perfect. The staff even leaf blowed the walkway to the pier. Thank you to the staff for letting me have my dream wedding.
We stayed at the RV park for one night. It was truly amazing. The park was beautiful, there were so many nice people as well! The staff was great! They had a dump, trash, water hookups and electric! I had 4-5 bars of cell reception using Verizon. The public bathrooms were very big,non-connect, one person per room. I would however recommend using shower shoes when taking a shower, it was a little dirty! Just note that there are A LOT of flies! I want to come back again and again and I highly recommend it!
