Mississippi River State Park provides quality access to the St. Francis National Forest and offers visitors endless adventures where the Mississippi River, Crowley’s Ridge and the Arkansas Delta meet. Visitors can explore everything from hardwood forests to the sandy shores of the Mississippi River while enjoying three lakes, the All American Great River Road and Crowley's Ridge Parkway (Both are National Scenic Byways), four hiking trails and two recreational areas. Interpretive programs include tours of historic sites, cooking demonstrations, hiking, biking, kayaking and much more. The visitor center includes interactive exhibits, a gift shop, and a large, multi-purpose area for hosting meetings, family reunions and other group events. Boat, kayak, canoe and bicycle rentals are available.
Absolutely loved this park. The visitors center had a lovely garden full of hummingbirds and butterflies. The interior had a wonderful hands on exhibit about the local area. They had cool little themed backpacks for kids you can borrow for FREE!!! There was one for general forest stuff, astronomy, birding, and plants. They had little games and a sketchbook and story book and tracking book and magnifying glass and other cool kid adventure stuff. Aaaaand they let you borrow fishing poles and bikes. Arkansas State Parks are better than all the other ones we’ve been too and the campsite was super clean and the bathrooms were clean and had running water and a hot and cold shower which was super refreshing and needed. Many resources available, very nice shop with souvenirs, fishing supplies, and camping necessities if you forgot something. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly as well. Out of the 8 parks I’ve used during this specific road trip, no others come close to being as nice as Arkansas State Parks and definitely the Mississippi River State Park is ranked No. 1 thus far.
Huge insects 🕷️
Nice quiet place.
We rented a cabin, perfect place to come & do absolutely nothing. Hiking trails, fishing was a little out of my comfort zone. It’s in the country, in the woods with murky water.
But scenery is beautiful 🤩 we chilled in the cabin, took our hammock & played board games. If you’re looking for activities for young ones during your camping trip, probably not the place. But if you want to get away, relax, enjoy nature & do nothing, this is the place!
Beautiful campground! Not many sites, but well worth it if you can get reservations.
OMG, we loved our waterfront site #1 out on a weee peninsula of its own. So picturesque. Others said great fishing, too, but we only kayaked. Lots of water to explore. Greatest restrooms ever, with private toilet and shower in same room.
