From Southern Black Hills: 10 miles southeast of Hot Springs off US Hwy 385/18.
Angostura Reservoir is a water-lover's haven with breathtaking scenic views. Offering crystal clear waters, 36 miles of shoreline, and some of the finest sandy beaches in the state, the area hosts many water sports and summer fun activities, like camping, boating, fishing, and swimming.
The fishing is well known for its walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie, and also supporting northern pike, largemouth bass, perch and bluegill.
Had one of the best camping trips ever hat creek campground is very nice and it seems to be away from the big crowds and more peaceful so glad I lucked out picking it
We had site 149 in the Horse head campground (electric). It's crushed gravel with a picnic table and fire ring. We had a bit of shade which was great cuz it was 90 when we were there. We had Verizon and dish satellite service at this site. I took the walking path for 3.5 miles one morning along the reservoir. Very clean restrooms.
Out of state visitor, came for the Southern Hills Triathlon. Great venue, beautiful reservoir, super clean & raked sandy beach front, paved hike/run/bike trail. The trail is fully paved, so strollers and wheelchairs are possible (be aware, there are some steep sections). Only $8 per day to park. Camp sites available for tents & RVs. There are cabins & lodges to rent too. It's so clean and nice, you'd think you're at a tropical resort. Planning to return next year.
