Camped for the first time here over Labor Day weekend. The staff were very friendly and accommodating when the first site they gave us was way too small for our tent and gave us a much larger site. We brought our own kayaks for a three hour trip down the river. The first 2 hours were very enjoyable. The last hour was kind of annoying dealing with all the people that were tubing, but we got through it. What we really didn't like was the extreme noise in the campground! The first night, we were kept up until 3 am by some obnoxious people. The last night, people arrived at 10pm, started to play loud music and beating on loud drums! Yes drums!! My husband had to drive up and ask the security guard to do something! Guests shouldn't have to ask for the quiet time to be enforced, they should automatically do it. Unfortunately, we will not be back because of thisO bnoxious, rude behavior. Plus, the outhouses were disgusting as were the showers in bathhouse. If you like to sleep, I would try a different campground!
We have been staying at Whites for almost 20 years now, our group has been as big 80 people and has been a blast ever year! The staff is amazing! accommodating, friendly and helpful...The office has a pretty great store too! The grounds are kept up well and the showers and bathrooms are clean. Prices are reasonable and our reservation has always been an easy process. The rules are pretty straight forward and not overbearing, like at other camps in the area. And Cliffs bar will deliver some of the best pizza in Michigan right to your campsite!!!! Just beware of the damn raccoons...they are fearless! LOL....Guess they just want to join the party!
Pretty good experience. Had some concerns about conduct of some others on the bus ride back, as well as loud music being played until 12:30pm, but saw those in reviews, and anticipated something may come up. We had our five year old with us. Friends of ours have been using these guys for ten years, and we joined them this time. The store is well stocked, and reasonably priced. Camp sites are good size, and quality. Bathrooms were clean, but dated. The rafting experience was great. Good rafts, tied them altogether, and floated down the river. Pretty simple process.
Great and helpful staff. Call ahead to setup your group and get ready for an awesome time! I have done every route and can say that it is just as much fun alone as it is with your partner or large group. They can accommodate whatever you want to do. Very relaxed atmosphere on the water. The river varies in height and debt so watch out for those hidden swimming holes to take a dip and prolong your trip!
We had a great weekend! We stayed in the cabins. There was one bunk bed, small table with chairs, small refrigerator and it came with bedding. We did a 5 hour kayak trip and had our own kayaks. We changed our river plans a couple times and the ladies at the front were very accommodating. We had them take us to the drop off where they already had our kayaks locked up in a shed. The driver was nice and did a great job getting us there. The river was perfect! It was a Saturday and there were a lot of tubers so it was difficult to maneuver around them. If you don’t want your kids around cussing, drinking, partying people I would not recommend. As far as being at our cabins it was quite and relaxing but we didn’t have many people directly around us. The bathroom across from us was big and clean. It had quite a few showers and a few bathroom stalls.
