Just what we were looking for on our first “camping” trip since moving to NV! Out of the beaten path yet accessible, friendly people, clean toilets and most of all, a pristine small lake enjoyed by people who appreciate it and surrounded by meadows and forests. The back of an SUV, albeit with a comfortable air mattress is no longer considered an option in this household…
Great location, very pretty surroundings. Its tucked away off the highway. The campsites are great, and so is the lake! The lake is shallow, we walked aways out and took our paddle board all over. I would suggest water shoes, as the bottom is sludge. Lots of frogs near the bank, and we even saw a water snake! Some of the campsites have access to a little river that flows to the lake, there is a small dam before going in the lake. Weather was great, even with the mid day mountain thunder and rain storm. Be prepared for heat and rain in the summer months, also bring bug spray.
We will be booking again, it is an AWESOME camping location.
Beautiful beautiful location! The lake was warm enough to swim in and at the edge of the campground, so very close to walk to. Our site was on the Alpine meadow site, also totally gorgeous natural beauty.
Bathrooms are vault toilets. Well kept but can be really smelly at times. Bring water- lots. Sierraville is about 20-25 mins away.
There are a ton of great perks about this campsite. It was quiet, the bathrooms were well kept, and the scenery was beautiful! However, maybe it's the time of year and the late rain/snow we got but the mosquitoes were absolutely horrible. Bug spray, citronella, wind, nothing really kept them at bay and my kids had TONS of mosquito bites. Not sure we'd go back, at least not this time of year (June).
I was there during a storm and freezing weather so it was more than camping it was an adventure and through it all our camp host kept the restrooms nice and clean thank you
