Nothing better than driving 6 hours with 7 adults and 12 children just to be greeted by a locked gate and news from a local that it’s closed for construction. Booked three spots in February. No refund and not a single notification, email, call warning us that they had closed.

The lady was super nice, but the man was a bit of a jerk when we asked to be moved from a COMPLETELY INADEQUATE AND INAPPROPRIATE campsite. They had taken a group of 3 close campsites that normally rent together and split them. We were left with either having to set our tent up in the gravel drive or leaving. We left. Pic posted.

Love the spots on this lakeside park. This is definitely on our top go to parks! Only bad thing is it is only opened 6 months of the year!

We arrived Friday evening, and left Monday. We stayed at sites 25 and 27. In those 3 nights, the bathroom nearby us had 0 working showers, and 1/3 women's room stalls functioning properly. Toilet paper was often just sitting on the floor or hanging from a hook on the door, there was no trash can and some women left tampon wrappers laying around.

The camp sites were heavily overgrown with weeds that came up to my hips in places (I'm 5'5). There was Poising Oak growing freely around most of the trees. Despite being listed as ok for 2 tents, the whole place was on a slope and had zero good places to pitch tents. We all had to be careful and set up so our feet pointed down hill.

That being said, the campsite did have plenty of local firewood and kindling to use. Despite a pretty bad downpour the night we arrived, we were able to start a fire the next day using the wood that had been sitting out.

I was told that all of the camping spots had awnings and picnic tables. Not true . Most had no awnings at Al!

Plenty of Cardinals to listen to. And if it isn't windy, the lake is rather peaceful to watch. That said, next time we go camping, we will pick somewhere else.
