About Campground

Overview

Jones Bay is one of Lake Roosevelt’s smaller, more rustic campgrounds. The campground is mostly gravel and packed dirt, with not much vegetation, on the lake shore. It can be reached by boat and has a boat launch and dock. Jones Bay can be also be reached by car, but may be difficult to find.

Recreation

Jones Bay is popular with people that like a more remote primitive site. There is access to the water with a small boat ramp. Fishing is great from the water or the shore.

Facilities

Jones Bay is a reservation only campground with 9 sites. There are picnic tables and fire pits at each site. You will need to bring your own drinking water.

Natural Features

Jones Bay is located at the bottom of a ravine that opens up into a beautiful bay on Lake Roosevelt. It's located in the brush stepe so has a desert feel to it with the bitter antelope brush and sage.

Nearby Attractions

Great fishing is just a boat ride away. Beautiful views up and down the lake.

Bring shade, water and ice! Primitive camping; no running water. Scorching hot in the summer, but the lake is cold and refreshing. No beach at camp. It's sharp rocks under the water. Bring floats or a raft. It's a 30 minute drive on gravel road from Wilbur, the nearest town, so bring what you need!

Beautiful view. I like that it's a small camp site up to 9 spaces. The down part about this campground is that there is not much to show for. We didn't find a trail. There is no swimming/beach area. There is a boat launch and two docks. There is public vault toilet and garbage cans. On the campsite itself there is a picnic table and fire ring. Lots of trees for shade. Not too bad of a campground.

Decent swimming area and boat launch. Nearby RV park is apparently party city with noise late into the night. Long drive in on non surfaced roads making access to other areas with hiking or activities a bit of a drive. Shade is sketchy. Probably best arriving by boat.
