Perfect for secluded tent camping. The access road is washed out 6.5 miles from the campground and it is not vehicle accessible.
Dosewallips Campground is accessible off the Dosewallips Rd. This can been accessed from Highway 101. The Dosewallips road is washed-out outside the Olympic National Park boundary, 6.5 miles from the campground and cannot be traversed with a vehicle. All campers must hike past the wash-out and walk into the campground.
Great hiking trailheads right from the campground. Neat, clean, plentiful bathrooms and showers.
For RV's this a family park. Tons of kids playing. Good for activities like the river, beach, and hiking. No RV spots seem to have much privacy, this is really more of a "do things" place. It's not peaceful at all.
The highway is adjacent. Some tent sites are better as they have privacy and are closer to the river.
The worst part is the RVs dry camping on the non-hookup side of the highway, the higher number sites. Not sure why at 5pm on a moderate weather day they need all their generators cranking but it's totally chaotic sounding, especially with the highway right next door. This would be the better place to camp but the generators totally ruin it.
We won't come here again to camp, but will for the day use as it really does have some great activities.
Another great place in the Olympic Wilderness! Just watch out for mountain goats. Awesome views, great campsites! Terrific hike!
About 7 miles in, you'll find the old campground. There's almost an eerie ghost town vibe, a new favorite hike of mine.
Did a 2 night backpack trip and loved it. No outhouses, had established fire pits, picnic tables, bear boxes, and near the river. Beautiful area.
