About Campground

Overview

Situated near the south fork of the Snoqualmie River in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Denny Creek Campground offers visitors stunning scenery and easy access to an abundance of recreational activities in the Northern Cascade Range.

Campsites sit beneath a canopy of forest, and a few are sprinkled at the banks of Lodge Creek, which flows into the Snoqualmie.

Recreation

In addition to being a prime location for hiking, fishing, picnicking and horseback riding in summer and early fall, Denny Creek offers excellent skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months.

The Asahel Curtis Nature Trail, named for one of Washington's most renowned nature photographers, is located nearby. This trail is a short, easy walk through one of the last remaining stands of old growth forest in the Snoqualmie Valley. The trail crosses Humpback Creek several times before rising gently into a grove of mature Douglas-fir, western hemlock and western red cedar. Mosses, ferns, orchids and a large variety of other wildflowers abound on the forest floor.

Facilities

Denny Creek Campground offers 24 reservable campsites, including one group site. Picnic tables, flush toilets and drinking water are also available, as well as electrical hook-ups at a handful of sites.

Natural Features

Hemmed in by several designated wilderness areas, this national forest showcases rugged peaks, sparkling alpine lakes and old-growth forests, providing visitors with a variety of scenic landscapes.

On a clear day visitors can spot Mt. Baker, the most prominent feature of the Mt. Baker Wilderness Area. Rising to an elevation of 10,781 feet, this active volcano is perpetually snow-capped and mantled with an extensive network of creeping glaciers. Mt. Baker's summit, Grant Peak, is actually a 1,300-foot-deep mound of ice, which hides a massive volcanic crater.

Wildlife in the area include mountain goats, coyotes, pine marten and a variety of migratory birds and native fish.

Nearby Attractions

Denny Creek Road, a historic wagon route used by early settlers to cross Snoqualmie Pass, can be accessed from milepost 47.

The Verlot Public Service Center, near the South Fork Stillaguamish River, was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933 to 1942. Verlot`s handsome buildings reflect the architectural style and fine craftsmanship of the era and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

First time camping here. The sites are very clean. The campground was not busy, so it was very quiet.

The weather sucked, but that's Washington for ya! We had one nice day and hiked to the waterfall. Very beautiful!

I've been camping here for years, bringing my Granddaughter, or with Hubby, and also alone. I LOVE this Campground. We just got home from a few days there. And, the Campground Hosts were THE BEST I've ever met, and we camp a lot!! Alan & Lisa, and their Daughter Angelina made our stay exceptional. They were helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. When they found out it was our Anniversary, Angelina brought us some cake she had made to help us celebrate!! It was the perfect topping to a perfect camping experience!

We have come to Denny Creek for over 41 years, it is a pleasant camp grounds with the creek running through it. Normally we grade it at 5 stars. However this year, it was shocking to see what poor condition the park is in, compared to previous years. The paths to the creek had not been cleared, the restrooms were in appalling condition as in the past they were always pristine. The chart on the bathroom wall stated the last time it was cleaned was a week previous to our visit.

Against my better judgment I cleaned up paper when I used the facility.

The hosts were not customer friendly. For example, we were walking along the creek on our second day of the visit, a teenager approached us and asked, "What is your name?" My adult granddaughter said, "I beg your pardon." She said again, What is your names and what are you doing here?" My granddaughter said, "Walking down the creek".

We went on, we looked up again and I recognized the woman that had been sitting at the entry when we checked in, smoking a cigarette, and hollered over to the cars to ask, what we are doing etc, my daughter in the first car explained our reservations and purpose for the visit.

So I said to her, "Yes?" ( realizing that the teenager that came upon us, must have been her teenage. The host went on about no day camping. I told her the number of our site. (The one we had paid 70.00 for plus 38.00 extra dollars for extra vehicles as it was a birthday campout. And booked for two night.) But honestly, I was shocked. I wanted to say, why don't you clean the bathrooms and clear the trails and paths! We know what their job description is, we had visited with the various hosts for over 40 years). The host never greeted us or introduced herself. We continued walking in the creek, she left after I told her our campsite.

There were other meet-ups with the host over a birthday guest not parking in the park, so he moved his car. They sat in an empty camp spot watching us. Honestly it was not pleasant. 5 of us were camping and 4 came to celebrate the birthdays as we have always done year after year. The four left the park, leaving 5 to camp.

Needless to say it was not our usual experience and indeed shocking.

Please tell your hosts to introduce themselves, smile,

and to clean the bathrooms daily. ( the toilet bowls, counters and floors were all dirty. As campers, we come here to get away and enjoy ourselves, we are not rowdy.

We were very disappointed.

The park gets 5 stars the hosts zero.

The Park is off of I-90 and you can hear the cars on the highway, but we have always felt that the beauty of the site overrode that flaw.

Great campground. Clean restrooms. Water and electricity at campsite. Designated fire + Tent + picnic table area. Creek is very close to campsites, so easily accessible. Gusting water acts like white noise. Trucks maybe audible during night as campsites are next to highway but did not bother us that much. Perfect place to spend evenings with family. Camp host present at entrance of campground so you can get wood for campfire 🔥.

Beautiful campgrounds, well maintained, clean restrooms with flushable toilets. Electricity too! Picnic tables and a fire pit with a grill. We reserved the site online a couple months ago. We paid $8 on site for an extra car parking overnight. Heard the waxing and waning sound of the flowing river all night. The river stream is accessible for some water play with the kids but is very rocky. Access to plenty of hiking trails nearby. We have been here 3 times now, always a good experience!
