We have come to Denny Creek for over 41 years, it is a pleasant camp grounds with the creek running through it. Normally we grade it at 5 stars. However this year, it was shocking to see what poor condition the park is in, compared to previous years. The paths to the creek had not been cleared, the restrooms were in appalling condition as in the past they were always pristine. The chart on the bathroom wall stated the last time it was cleaned was a week previous to our visit.
Against my better judgment I cleaned up paper when I used the facility.
The hosts were not customer friendly. For example, we were walking along the creek on our second day of the visit, a teenager approached us and asked, "What is your name?" My adult granddaughter said, "I beg your pardon." She said again, What is your names and what are you doing here?" My granddaughter said, "Walking down the creek".
We went on, we looked up again and I recognized the woman that had been sitting at the entry when we checked in, smoking a cigarette, and hollered over to the cars to ask, what we are doing etc, my daughter in the first car explained our reservations and purpose for the visit.
So I said to her, "Yes?" ( realizing that the teenager that came upon us, must have been her teenage. The host went on about no day camping. I told her the number of our site. (The one we had paid 70.00 for plus 38.00 extra dollars for extra vehicles as it was a birthday campout. And booked for two night.) But honestly, I was shocked. I wanted to say, why don't you clean the bathrooms and clear the trails and paths! We know what their job description is, we had visited with the various hosts for over 40 years). The host never greeted us or introduced herself. We continued walking in the creek, she left after I told her our campsite.
There were other meet-ups with the host over a birthday guest not parking in the park, so he moved his car. They sat in an empty camp spot watching us. Honestly it was not pleasant. 5 of us were camping and 4 came to celebrate the birthdays as we have always done year after year. The four left the park, leaving 5 to camp.
Needless to say it was not our usual experience and indeed shocking.
Please tell your hosts to introduce themselves, smile,
and to clean the bathrooms daily. ( the toilet bowls, counters and floors were all dirty. As campers, we come here to get away and enjoy ourselves, we are not rowdy.
We were very disappointed.
The park gets 5 stars the hosts zero.
The Park is off of I-90 and you can hear the cars on the highway, but we have always felt that the beauty of the site overrode that flaw.
