Great little campground. The website says no bear boxes but there is in fact bear boxes at most of the sites. I can confirm that site 8 does not have a box though.

Me and my friend Aj ended up getting on alert and om edge then tried to smoke and relac next thing you know we hear a heavy object being thrown towards at the tree right next to us ,We jump up grab our knives go back to back and 10 seconds later a second object is thrown near us and we hear russling in the woods going towards the car , we go back to our things and stay up til 3am watching the light in the distance we eventually fall asleep in the tent and hear russling hmnear our tent soon after ill never forget that night ive never left faster but it made us feel alive well be back maybe... to anwer the question, why would you go there: It is a clean and beautiful Campground if you want some unique nature pictures and like to fish and hunt, that is a great place to relax, hunt, hiking and fishing. Also a wonderfull area for dirt road rides. I love it in September when the hunting season starts and tourists and kid's are gone. It is a special place where natives once traded sometimes you think it's still going on.

Hey all, just an FYI because I didn't see any warnings before headed out. But as of 16June2023 (Idk how long it's been as is) Hell Hole Res. Camp grounds are not open. Destroyed by massive tree fall. Big Meadows was also closed, unsure why.
