This is 5 stars for just the type of place we like. Lonely and way way out among the stars. Here we are on memorial day weekend and not another soul in sight. Free too. Nice bathroom, fully stocked and door not locked. Although it says its a picnic site, camping up to 14 days is allowed. But you have to love grassland prairie and stars to really have a reason to come here. And oh yes, the stars are magnificent. Thank you National Forest Service!

Cute little picnic and camp area. Clean bathrooms (with TP) and empty trash cans. Free up to 14 days. We stayed one night with very little daylight camping but overnight was wonderful, quiet and perhaps without clouds would be a nice stargazing location. Also had great little picnic setups with fire pits.

We have stayed here on the way to Colorado for past six years. This year the place is completely overgrown. Based on the grass on the sidewalks, I would be surprised if it has been mowed this year. Difficult to put up a tent in two foot high grass, not to mention the increased presence of snakes and rodents in the high grass.

Nice quiet hidden gem. The forest ranger and sheriff came by to make sure the place was clean and safe. This place is big rig-friendly if it's not crowded. The turnaround is tight. You may have to back in.
