Back when I was young it was a great place, good community, scheduled events, nice gameroom for kids, hell even a great summer Halloween! It's close to the beach and has a nice forest feel. The trees are nice too but there lies the problem.
The park hasn't kept up with the times at all. The wifi is almost non existent the trees get in the way due to cheap boxes which never get any maitnance unless you go up front and ask a few times. The owners are older now and not very energetic anymore. Their family used to run it well but now theres Really no effort. Halloween is pretty weak now. Game room is all garbage. The bathrooms are old and broken , showers are always infested with daddy long leg spiders. Store is overpriced ( I think I paid 5 bucks for a can of tuna.) From what I hear they are pretty stubborn when it comes to money.
If your looking for a place for kids or a place to shack up for the beach I wouldn't reccomend it.
If someone who works at this place ever sees this... ( I doubt it). Fix your wifi, update your bathrooms, get new staff, and stop being cheap.
But I'm sure once Ron and Maryann are gone this place will really go down.
We just reserved a seasonal site for 2016. We stopped by to tour the campground and fell in love with the quaint feel of the place. We are staying there Labor Day Weekend and leaving our camper on our seasonal site for the winter. The owner Maryanne is such a nice welcoming person and that really sold us on Tamerlane. The 2 times we stopped there the pool although older was spotless and the water was clear and clean. The bathhouses while older are also very clean. The laundry is very modern. Overall this place has a very laid back relaxing feeling. Looking forward to our first full season. What we wanted was to stay away from the big corporate campgrounds where you are only a number not a friend.
The tuna served here gave me the absolute worst food poisoning in my life. Several people I know have told me similar stories as well. The folks running the place didnt do anything to make it better.
All around a horrible experience.
Would never stay at this campground. The old man at the desk (owner) was rude and aggressive. He threatened us upon check in, stating he was going to make false acquisitions to his "son who is a state trooper". This I exactly how you should not treat a future guest, whose family owned in this campground for years. Congratulations on a lost family of costumers.
Great family run campground. The owners are very easy going and go out of there way to accommodate guests. Most of the sites are permanent/seasonal, but all the seasonal folks are very welcoming. A very laid back, enjoyable experience all the way around. Very reasonably priced too compared to larger campgrounds in the area.
