It's at a closed missile base. The foundations for the buildings are still there. Pick a pad and camp for the night. The trailhead is just past the pads. It's a nice single track, above my beginning level and lots of fun.

Fantastic bit of singletrack! If you’re in Green River or even just passing by, the trailhead is literally 2 minutes from the freeway exit, I highly recommended giving this one a go!

Fun short loop with interesting terrain. A good technical challenge. Super hot and windy with no coverage.

Desolate bleak landscape is reason for three stars. However, the trail is very well designed (Moab Scotty?), but there is no shade anywhere since no trees, so if hot you will be too, and if it has rained this one could be gumbo due to the clayey soils. Ride early am or on cool days only, if windy it would be brutal for both riding and camping. Camping near the TH on old Athena rocket program building foundations (at least level for trailers!). Excellent cell service due to I 70 and Green River is only 10 mins to coffee!.

Athena rocket trail! Kudos to whoever made this, it's phenomenal. Fast and relatively flowy with some fun technical thrown in here and there. A lot of ups and downs. Not for beginners, but probably ok for aggressive intermediates but there is some exposure combined with technical where you wouldn't want to fall. Of course you could walk some sections and enjoy the rest. There are some decent hills but none of them are too grunty as the vertical rise is never more than 100-200 ft. I would compare Athena to Klonzo trail system near Moab but this trail is better. If it rains it becomes quagmire, trust me, so don't go if it looks like weather, you'll regret it immensely. With how close this is to Green River it's a great quick ride if you're in town.
