On the outskirts of a barren, seedy desert town, you stumble upon a somewhat modest place for an overnight stay when in a bind. This unassuming refuge offers just enough to make your stay bearable.
First and foremost, while it’s not the most luxurious accommodation you’ve encountered, it’s a shelter from the elements. The grounds may not boast opulent decor, but they provide some semblance of shelter. The hookups are functional, if somewhat dated, but they serve their purpose adequately.
The most crucial factor in the modern age, Wi-Fi, can be a bit finicky here. The signal dances between existence and oblivion, forcing you to make your digital interactions brief and to the point. Streaming a movie might be an exercise in patience or futility, and video calls will involve a few frozen frames, but at least you have a connection to the outside world, even if it’s a tenuous one.
As for entertainment, the cable service is reminiscent of the old-fashioned rabbit-ear antenna quality. Expect a limited selection of channels, and the picture might occasionally fuzz out, but at least you have some distraction while you’re holed up here.
On a more practical note, the essential utilities function as they should. Water flows steadily from the taps, electricity powers your devices without interruption, and the sewer hookups efficiently whisk away any waste. In the desert, these are the lifelines that you can’t afford to go without, and in this regard, this place delivers.
So, while it’s far from luxurious and comes with its quirks, this halfway decent spot on the outskirts of a desert town can be a godsend when you find yourself in a pinch. It might not be the oasis of your dreams, but it’s a reliable respite from the harsh desert surroundings, ensuring that you can recharge both yourself and your devices before venturing back out into the arid expanse.
If you love the desert this is a great place to stay. I lived at SL for 7 years and overall it was a good experience. Mgrs keep a close eye on potential problems so visitors can feel looked after. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Great people! This is an older park in need of updates, but the owners are very nice. Highly recommend if you need a place to stay for the night.
The bathroom was clean. There was plenty of hot water. The facilities are not updated. It is not high end, but the grounds were clean and well-maintained. There was at least one plant per campsite. They were also picnic tables and concrete slabs at your site. We set our tent up on the concrete slab, which worked well. It was relatively quiet, although you could hear the train in the distance. The managers were nice.
Great little RV park. Looks a little old, but all the infrastructure appears to be updated. There are some campers in disrepair, so I'm not sure if a long-term guest or not picky on who they take. The host is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Recommend for overnight or a few days. Not a resort, so do not expect too much. I did not check out the bathroom or showers, so I can't provide details on the facilities.
