Absolutely beautiful place. The owner is so friendly. I'm sure he's the happiest man on earth, having a big plot of land and people come to stay and have fun. Lots of activities like dinners and camp fires. The bathrooms are clean. My only criticism would be that you have to pay for showers. We'd love to come back one day, though. Highly recommend!
Fabulous experience during the 2023 Solar Eclipse!
A group of us from Las Vegas came to seen the eclipse. Danny the owner could not have been more welcoming to this random troop of eccentrics!
He politely explained to some elderly locals “Theses guys are married…. Like man and wife!” And looks of confusion turned to smiles and we were invited to dance in a square dance happening on the expansive covered patio!
The camp had a breakfast, lunch and dinner for everyone at a nominal fee. ($10). Since there are no restaurants for 30 miles in any direction this was welcome so we didn’t have to cook!
Overall very nice visit.
All of the many RV’ers who were there for the eclipse had either off-road ATV’s or bikes to ride around to the state park, etc on the old 2-lane highway. (It parallels the interstate.)
We are definitely coming back to explore with our own e-bikes!
Last minute camping trip to see the eclipse. The people were super nice and organized. They created a sight for us. My children loved playing in the water, climbing trees, and riding their bikes around. We also like seeing all the wild rabbits on our walk around the campground.
Be aware of negotiating spaces here—my husband was told a space for an RV was $40 a night by owner Danny, who was very cordial over the phone and seem to entice my husband with the fact that he just needed to send a text to him letting him know what date he wanted to stay, in a very casual way. When we arrived, my husband was told there was a two night minimum stay, which was not revealed by the owner. My husband did offer to pay in advance over the phone previously when inquiring about park and costs and the owner all told him there was no need for that.
Talk about fish in a barrel! We did not appreciate that it ended up costing over double to stay there to the tune of $100 per night. Next time we will stay on public lands!
Our advice to anyone coming into this RV park is to know what you’re paying for before you get there and pay in advance before you show up tired and don’t know what else is available in the area.
The park has very nice staff, however, the accommodations are rough and unappealing.
It's a beautiful place with lots of wildlife and the river runs right through it. The owners and the staff are extremely friendly and truly care that your visit is memorable. The lower lodge couldn't be more perfect for large gatherings. It has a lighted Pavillion with plenty of tables and and a huge kitchen. There are showers, a laundry room, cabins, and a basketball/tennis court. The prices are among the lowest we've found around the area.
