From I-87 (exit 23-Warrensburg): Go 200 feet W on Diamond Point Rd, then 1/2 mi N on US-9, then 3 mi N on Horicon Ave.
Good for small family get aways to enjoy some of nature but to also having a nice bed to sleep on.
Perfect day trip for a little paddling. Calm water & great sightseeing. When we've gone there have always been watershed steward's at the pull out nearby to decontaminate your boats and keep invasive species out of the park waters.
A lot of the land on the side of the river is private, but there are plenty of sand banks and fallen trees to pull off for a water picnic. You can paddle from here down to the beach on Schroon lake, which is great if you want to get a little exercise at the tail end of your journey.
